Shadows Rising

Chapter 1

Shadowkit woke up snuggled up close to his mother and his brother. The warm sunlight blinded him for a second. Lazy fur-balls, He thought, looking at his brother and mom. He stood up and stretched. He stumbled to the entrance of the nursery. He padded out, and glanced around. He saw Ivykit and trotted over to her. "H-hey..." Shadowkit stuttered.

Ivykit blinked and smiled at him. "Hey, Shadowkit." She meowed, swaying her tail. Her heart raced. She let a purr escape her throat, and then blushed with embarrassment.

Shadowkit smiled back. He paused for a moment. Ask her to do something, He thought. "Wanna play something? Or explore camp? Or ask the elders if they can tell us a story?" He asked. "Oh and I-" He bit his lip before he finished. Wow I almost just... Well told her that I liked her, He thought, his pelt burning with embarrassment.

Ivykit smiled. "How about warrior and mouse?" She suggested. I wonder what he was going to say, She thought, tilting her head slightly. Shadowkit nodded. "Who wants to be the warrior?" He asked. Ivykit thought for a moment. "You can." She smiled. Shadowkit smiled. "I'm going to eat you!" He meowed playfully. Ivykit started running away, and Shadowkit darted after her.

Ivykit collapsed onto the ground. "I'm tired." She panted. "Now that your tired I shall eat you!" Shadowkit purred. Ivykit gasped. "Oh no!" She exclaimed, scrambling to her paws. She started running again. Shadowkit ran after him, and pounced on her. He tackled her playfully. "Gotcha!" He smiled. "Now I shall eat you!"

Leafstar smiled as he watched the kits play. I wonder how they have so much energy, He thought, laying down on Storm Rock. The prophecy that Duskheart rang in his head. A shadow will rise, a night will bring blood shed, and the leaf will fall, He thought. I think that I'm the leaf who'll fall... But who's the shadow and the night?

Darkness engulfed the land as night fell. Shadowkit looked at Ivykit, and yawned. "I think that we should go back to the nursery." He meowed.

Ivykit nodded and started padding towards the nursery. She yawned as entered the nursery. Shadowkit padded after her. He curled up into a ball next to his mother.

Nightkit glanced at Shadowkit. He blinked, and then looked away. He snuggled closer to his and Shadowkit's mother.

Shadowkit and Nightkit slowly drifted off to sleep.

Nightkit stood in a dark forest. He glanced around. A dark gray tabby padded up to him. "Welcome to the DarkForest, Nightkit." The cat said. "H-how do you know my name?" Nightkit asked stuttering a little. "That doesn't matter. I am here to train you." The cat said. "Why?" Nightkit asked. But the dark gray cat was gone...

Shadowkit woke up, and realized he was alone in the nursery. He peeked out of the entrance, and saw the clan gathering beneath Storm Rock. He quickly joined them.

"Today, two apprentices have reached the end of their training. Glasspaw and Fallenpaw, please step forward." Leafstar announced.

Fallenpaw and Glasspaw stepped forward.

"I, Leafstar, leader of StormClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down at this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn." Leafstar meowed. "Glasspaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?" He asked.

Glasspaw nodded. "I do." She meowed.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Glasspaw, from this moment you will be know as Glassclaw. StarClan honors your bravery and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of StormClan." Leafstar meowed, resting his muzzle on Glassclaw's head. Glassclaw purred and licked Leafstar's shoulder. "I promise to be the loyalest warrior I can." She vowed.
