Chapter 2 : Salt and wounds

Mina's POV

I wonder where zay zay went . She never misses her lunch and she promised we'd hang out for a bit before chemistry . I can't stand sitting here all by myself at this table . Where the heck is gale ? I flip open my phone and send him a quick text

Mina : where are you? x

My phone vibrates and my mood brightens up before I read the text . Honestly I've never felt this way about anyone before . Who knew that I'd act like a love sick puppy one day .

Gale : sorry love , I'm caught up in class . Don't wait for me at lunch

Disappointment becomes evident on my features . I've gotten so used to having Gale around me that being without him makes me feel like something is missing . An uneasy feeling settles in the pit of my stomach . I'm just being paranoid . He can't disobey his teacher and come here . Silly me

Too invested in my thoughts I venture out of the cafe and head towards my locker . The food today is yukh , I'd rather eat the muffin I brought form home . Just as I'm about to open my locker I hear hushed sounds coming from the library . Curiosity fills me up and I follow the voice . It's not in my nature to eavesdrop but something compels me to go forward . Soon the whispers turn to distinct voices and distinct voices to shouting .

" It's none of my business ", I mutter to myself and turn around

Just before I walk away I hear some guy talking . Wait ...is that gale? No it couldn't be . He's in class right now . I spin on my heels so fast I think I might've gotten a whiplash . I run to library window and what I see shatters me completely . There he his , with Liza in his arms . What is he doing ? Tears start pooling in my eyes . I'm so stupid , I should've known . One final ray of hope emerges from within me . It's just a hug right ? It's nothing more .

"I like you so much gale " , says Liza as she inches closer to him . And then she does the unexpected . She kisses him . I watch mortified from the corner of the room . This can't be happening ! I wait for him to push her back but he doesn't do anything . He is frozen in his place . I can't take this any more . A sob erupts from my lips and I run with no particular destination .

Gale's head snaps in my direction and he yells my name ,"Mina come back " . I run to the cafeteria and I hear him inching closer to me . He takes long strides and catches up to me . The grip he has on my arm is soft but suffocating . I loathe him right now , let alone be near him .

"Mina listen . Baby it's not what you think "

"Oh its exactly what I think you prick "

Having said this , I slap him right across the face . The silence that falls apon us is deadly . At this moment I am shaken out of my fury and see a crowd has surrounded us . Gale is too shocked to even muster up a response . His hand reaches for his cheek which is Bruning red form the impact . I see the look of hurt flash through his eyes but only momentarily .

"What is going on here ?!" , says a male voice from behind me

We both turn around to see principal Nasal Din standing there with a stern look on his face . I know what's next to come so I just stand there quietly waiting for the the principal ' outburst .

" You two , my office , NOW!"

"Yes sir " , we both reply un unison .

From the corner of my eye I can see zayna. She looks so pale and worried . I hate to put her in a position like this . I have so much to ask and tell her but right now, more important things await .

Zayna's POV

" So what did the principal say ?"

" I got detention for a week along with .. you know "

" Are you alright ? I know you try to act all strong but it's okay to let all the anger out"

" He's an asshole who deserves nothing from me "

" Did you Atleast hear his part of the story ?"

"Are you seriously defending him?! After all he did ? "

Anger was seeping out of every word she spoke so I remained shut and hugged her

" I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that . We all know what a manipulative bitch Liza can be . Such an airhead " , I say with pure disgust

Everything seemed to be getting better when the blonde herself decided to make an appearance . She looked our way and gave a sly smile . I felt like slapping that smile right off her face . How dare she ?

" Aww is poor minoo crying ? " , she says before she laughs that evil laugh

"Actually yes , your face is so ugly my eyes started to burn up "

" haha no wonder gale cheated on you , you're a bitch "

" Atleast I'm a bitch not some boyfriend stealing whore "

Before the fight got out of hand Ali stepped in . He expertly got rid of Liza without causing a scene . I was so thankful for him at that moment .

"Thank you , you didn't have to do that. I owe you " , I said

A smirk played on his lips as soon as the words left my mouth .

" Owe me you say princess ? I like the sound of that "

I knew I made the wrong choice when I said this . It was purely out of habit but the grin on his face said otherwise . Oh God Ali what do you have planned now? What have I gotten myself into?
