SCORPIUS POV
I stared at the inky map of Hogwarts as Al traced his hand along an empty corridor.
"We'll release the pixies here, cause a little mayhem, and catch them here," said Albus as he touched the end of a main hallway, "Hopefully this will be a good distraction as we set up the real prank!" Al finished smirking.
"Do you think we'll have enough time to capture the pixies after we set up the prank?" I asked, if we didn't catch the pixies at the end of the hallway, people would suspect us for the other prank we would be setting up.
"If Peeves agrees to help us as he did last year, we're going to be fine!" Al stated triumphantly. Ah Peeves, our partner in crime for four years, as me and Al would be starting our fifth.
"Just imagine Mcgonnagal's face when we put puking pastille powder in all the food!" I said excitedly as Al gave a hearty guffaw and I laughed along. At that moment Lily Potter strode in as if she owned the compartment.
"I've never known you to study Al, why the sudden change of heart?" She said sardonically.
"It's never to late to take on good habits." Al said smoothly as I drew my wand and hissed 'mischief managed,' as the map disappeared from existence. Lily seemed to be considering something.
"AHA!" She yelled. I jumped in my seat. I was not proud to say that she had truly scared me. She strode up to the map. I could see a look of knowing in her eyes. She whispered to the parchment,
"I solemnly swear I am up to no good." She said. She was smart...and pretty...and she could spot a snitch a mile away...she was perfect. Wow. I fancied a Potter. What was dad going to think. I mean he and Mr. Potter had settled their differences years ago. That said, they barely spoke, though, when they did see each other the made good conversation. Still, dad wouldn't be too terribly proud. Lily continued to talk.
"It's not like you could see anyone on the train," she began, "It only works at Hogwarts!" She paused, " How did you steal that from Dad's office?" She said truly curious as she sat down.
"It is mine you know!" Al retorted.
"Oh is it?" Lily teased back.
"Come off it you little git, you know I'm not supposed to bring it to school until sixth year!" Albus protested. There was a brief silence as Al regained composure. This was quite the entertaining sibling battle.
"You won't tell anyone, will you?" Al pouted as he gently set his copy of Pranking For the Malicious on his lap. Lily paled a bit, but soon cleared her head.
"I will tell if you tell dad I used the hex!" Lily sneered. I was confused, we were allowed to use hexes at school, well not without detention, but still.
"What hex?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows. By the immediate silence, I could tell what was coming I warily drew my wand, ready to cast a shield spell.
"Time for a show." Al said as he kicked back. Lily slowly stood, and drew her wand and pointed it straight at me.I was scared. Terrified. A few seconds, then a minute passed of nothing but tension.
"Well," Albus said impatiently, "I didn't come to Hogwarts to learn about string contests" he exclaimed. Lily blushed. What the heck?!? What happened to the confident lily potter I knew? She mumbled something about 'dad' and 'trouble' and 'later.' There was another awkward silence.
"Robes." Lily almost whispered as she swept out of the room.
"What was that about?" I asked my best mate.
"Isn't it obvious?" Al replied.
"Um no, it isn't," I said, "Or I wouldn't be asking you." I finished sarcastically.
"Well," Al began, "I'll give it to you straight....Lily fancies you."
"You really think so?" I burst out without thinking.
"Yup," Albus smirked, " And from the looks of it you fancy her too!" I blushed as he finished.
"I suggest you go comfort her," he continued, " She seemed quite embarrassed."
Hmmm I thought.
"Well, no harm in trying." I said optimistically as I stepped out the door.

I found Lily a few compartments down, leaning against the window. She was crying into her robes. She wasn't looking, so I thought I should play off my identity.
"Boys?" I asked knowingly as I entered. She coughed out a sob,
"Yes."
"So," I said, "You fancy Scorpius." I got straight to the point.
"Yeah..." She mumbled from within her clothes.
"He's so intimidating." She cried. Wow, me, intimidating. I guess I could imagine me like that. Well why did she like me? I wondered.
"He seems so nice and kind." She said as she slowly stopped crying. Well that's better.
"Except for his pranks." Great, so she does hate me. "I love his pranks." she continued. Maybe she doesn't. Merlin she was confusing. "But I always get nervous around him." she finished.
"It's alright." I said because it was, because I was here. Now. With her. She looked up. Merlin's beard, she was even beautiful when she was crying. She looked at me shocked, embarrassed, and ashamed.
"Oh." Was all she could say. I smiled and put my finger under her chin to look me in the eyes.
"I think he likes you too." I practically whispered. I looked into her hazel eyes. It was like drowning in a cinnamon-gold haze. I leaned in to softly press my lips against hers. Her lips were as fiery as her hair. They were so soft and warm. After a few seconds we both knew to pull apart. I let myself get lost in her eyes for a few more seconds.
"How long have you..." She seemed to think better of herself as her voice trailed off.
"Since that day you hexed Lorcan when he asked you out after kissing Audrey." I smiled at the memory of her fierce temper as she laughed quietly.
"You?" I asked curiously.
"Since you stood up for Grace Wiod after Alex Zabini tried to kiss her." She said smiling. We just sat there grinning like idiots until he arrived.
"So," said the bane of my existence, "I see you and Malfoy found a room. Lily dear you could do better." I resisted the urge to show him a muggle punch, but Lily was too quick.
"David, Clear out or I'll make sure there's a room for you in the hospital." She snapped. I love her so much.
"Is that a threat Potter?" He asked mockingly. Lily smiled grimly.
"No, that's a promise." Lily grinned triumphantly. David looked taken aback.
"Oh Lily," he said, "One day you'll see even I'm a better choice than a Malfoy!" He grinned maliciously. Lily casually turned to me as if to start a conversation.
"Oh!" She exclaimed, " Scorpius, d'you remember that hex I mentioned." Davie boy took a step back. Lily was practically giddy. I gave her a slow smirk as I stepped back. I watched as the hex seemed to be sucked into the git's nostrils. Suddenly his face was a cloud of black flapping wings. Lily and I laughed as he ran to find a professor.
"Detention?" Lily asked.
"Detention." I nodded, then continued, "Al will be so proud, detention on your first day." I smiled jovially. During the pause in conversation I mused about what detention would be like. Then, I thought about what I said. Al. My best mate. Albus Severus Potter. What the ruddy heck was he gonna think?
