Emily: Dazzling Eyes

The first time I saw Robin Lachowski, everything turned upside down. One good look at him and I knew that he is the one. I could tell from his eyes. Those dazzling green eyes! The way his dark brown hair falls into his eyes was just so breathtaking!

It happened before the start of seventh grade when rumors spread like wildfire. A family is moving into our neighborhood! I couldn't explain my excitement because having new neighbors was really rare for us. It's really so nice to meet new people. Grandpa even said that this family had a boy my age and that adds more to my excitement! I waited for them for weeks. I even stayed late at night sitting on top of my mango tree hoping I could witness their arrival.

It was so great to think that my new neighbors will be living in a house just across us. Maybe, just maybe, I could see the new boy everyday.

I was sitting on top of my tree when that day finally came. The Lachowskis were finally here! I couldn't contain my excitement and from that day on, I was so enthusiastic!

I hurriedly climbed down the mango tree to tell Grandpa that the new neighbors were finally at our neighborhood. I was running so fast when suddenly, everything came to a stop.

There I saw the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen! His green eyes were so pure and so cute I could stare at him all day! I really don't remember much for how long I had stared at him but I know that those moments were really something to cherish. Staring at the world's most beautiful and dazzling eyes.

I smiled. I fought the urge to come and meet him because I thought that I should tell Grandpa first.

Grandpa told me that I should go first because he couldn't do it at that time. He had swollen feet so he couldn't walk, perks of being old I guess.

I didn't waste a second to welcome the Lachowskis but then I remembered that Lily and Pipi haven't eaten yet. Lily and Pipi are my pigs. Now you may ask why I have pigs. Grandpa and I raised a small farm for a living.

I groaned. Feeding up my pigs would take a while. An excuse to not see the Lachowskis for a moment. After my piggy work was done, I did not hesitate to go and meet my new neighbors, especially the new boy. When I was already there, that was when I figured that I forgot to wash my hands and probably change my clothes. I was so preoccupied with meeting them. But I was already there and Mr. Lachowski with his son seemed to notice me, there was no turning back now.

"Hi! I'm Emily Winston!"

I was too excited, but I did my very best to be a civilized 12 year old girl. Who would want to look weird with their new neighbors, right?

I greeted them like any 12 year old girl would do. I was surprised when Mr. Lachowski greeted me too. He even introduced his son, who now has a name. Robin. His name is just so perfect!

And so, I greeted him too. I couldn't stop to stare at his eyes! Even his hair! He's just so perfect! I knew I was smiling like an idiot staring at a boy but who cares? This is love!

To be polite, I held out my hand for Mr. Lachowski and he happily took it. I did the same to Robin but he looked kind of hesitant. I really don't know what the real thing was.

"What's that on your hand?" He asked. Sure I was surprised by his sudden question. I had held him the wrong hand.

As I told him it was just mud, he was amused. I can tell by just looking at his eyes. Then, he asked me why a 12 year old girl like me, which I presumed he was talking about a preteen girl, would play in the mud.

So, I explained to him that I fed up my pigs just before I decided to meet him. He doesn't seem to shake my hand at that time.

I clearly understand that he is just shy. So, I decided to help him out of his shyness. I was the one who shook his hand.

It was so nice holding his hand! I could feel butterflies inside my stomach and thought 'is this it? Is this what they call love? Like the ones in the movies?'. My heart stopped. I don't know if it was just me or it just stopped beating. And for the first time in my life, I had that pinch of feeling. You know, like the world is taking a full swirl over and over again. It felt like I was floating. Floating in the air. And the only thing that kept me hold on to the earth was his dazzling eyes. It's like, the two of you are connected by some invisible force and they keep you intact together while the world is moving all around you.

"You know you could go out and check out our farm! We can feed my chickens, my pigs, even my cows! You are welcome!" I said with a sweet smile plastered on my face.

He was about to say something but his dad cut him off. I'm so happy to hear that Robin would like to do such things, things which I love. I then stared at him again. He is so handsome! When I look at him, I couldn't help it but smile and I knew that if I continue this, I am going crazy! So, I changed the subject where Robin is not involved.

I offered help for Mr. Lachowski. They sure have a lot of things inside the van.

But then, Robin spoke. He told me that there's no need for me to help. His dad and he can do it alone.

Isn't it so sweet? He is so shy and he's even a gentleman! I offered help and being a girl I am, he insisted that he can do it. It was so sweet!

"I don't really mind at all."

The next thing after that, he excused himself. He said he needs to check something. I figured that he is so shy, he's so shy his cheeks turn completely red. So cute!

When he retreated, I thought I don't have any business with Mr. Lachowski anymore so I decided to say goodbye. As Robin was about to enter their door, I hurried myself to his direction. I could at least say goodbye as well.

He was in a hurry and I don't know why. I really don't want to intrude that much so I already walked out of their yard.

My house was just across theirs. I am going to see those dazzling eyes tomorrow, again.
