I stood up when the bell rang and slung my backpack over my shoulder. I was surprised by how readily Jason agreed to my proposition of revenge. His eyes glinted wickedly when I told him, and he said he wanted revenge as much as I did. We were working on a plan, and so far it included spreading secrets. Lucy hasn't been to school in days, and people only know that Marcus cheated on me. What they don't know is that she's pregnant, and even better, Coach still didn't know about her little problem. And Marcus' stellar athletic performance? Result of a steroid cocktail. His pee came up clean every time because he paid someone else to pee in the cup for him. So that was "Phase 1" of the plan. Phase 2 was still under construction. I walked from my locker to my last class of the day and wasn't expecting someone to grab my elbow from behind.

"Can we talk?" I whirled around and found myself looking at Marcus, my initial alarm giving way to anger.

"Jesus do you not take a hint?" I snap and pull my arm away from him.

"Please, Mer, just for a little." He says, and I take a deep breath.

"Listen, I don't think you know how this really works. You cheated on me, with my best friend. You got her pregnant. You don't deserve to touch me, you don't deserve to talk to me, and you definitely don't deserve to call me Mer, and you sure as hell know that if you bother me again I will make life very difficult for you." I say dangerously. He looks unintimidated by me, and I narrow my eyes. "Back. Off." Marcus moves away from me and looks at me for a minute before walking away from me, muttering under his breath. I rush quickly to my AP Calc class, where Jason was waiting next to my desk.

"Hey." He gives me a quick smile, and I slide into my seat.

"Hey." I nod at him, and pull out my books. He leans over to my desk.

"Meet me after school at the park okay? We should talk." He whispers before sitting back up in his seat and listening to the teacher start her lecture on antiderivatives and their new rules.

The next fifty-five minutes are filled with note-taking and attempting to do some of the forty problems she had given us for homework. That was going to be fun. When the bell rang, we all shot out of our seats and rushed out of the door. I go to my locker to grab my books, after shoving them into my bag I rush out of the main door to my car. It starts with the purring of the engine and I speed off to the park where Jason said to meet. When I get there, he is leaning against a tree trunk, with a cigarette in his mouth. Ew.

"You know you really should quit." I say, coughing when he blows smoke my way.

"It's an occasional thing," he says nonchalantly, stomping out his barely used cigarette on the pavement. "anyways, my smoking habits aren't why we're here today." I lean against the tree next to him and cross my arms. "We're here for the first part of 'Phase 1." He said amusedly. He liked to make fun of the fact that I called our sabotage a "Revenge Operation" and that it had "Phases". What an asshole.

"And what would that be?" I ask bitingly.

"Ruin Marcus' football career." He says, and I look up at him, right into his brown eyes. "You and I both know that he uses steroids to keep up his muscle mass, but no one else knows.
