"...And then when I woke up, I could hear Bill's voice in my head... It seems like now he can also take control when I'm vulnerable or just whenever he wants..." Dipper sighed, still on the floor. He hugged his knees, almost like what Mabel does when she goes into Sweater Town. "Aw, Dipper you'll be okay... We'll find a way to reverse this somehow... We're the Mystery Twins, remember? We got this! Pound it!"
But Dipper didn't want to "pound it" right now. He had too much on his mind to think that everything was gonna be okay and shrug it off like it was nothing. There's a demon currently residing is his mind, which could easily take over and leave him helpless. Bill could just pull the strings of his brain like his own personal marionette. Was this what he meant by needing a puppet? Was this his absolute intent? To infiltrate his mind with him in it? To drive him crazy? What would happen if he didn't go back for his body?
What if?
What if?
What if?
Enough.Dipper pounded it.
"Aw yeah Dippin' Dots that's what I'm talking about! Now, let's get some ice cream, watch some Ducktective, and stay up until the sun hits that horizon again!" Mabel squealed in excitement, trying her best to make her brother feel the same. Maybe Bill being in his head wouldn't be too bad. Maybe she could become friends with him? I mean of course he did go into Stan's mind and work for Gideon... And steal the Journal.... And just tried to kill Dipper....On second thought...
"Uh, nah... I'm good. I'm gonna try and sleep, but thanks for trying to cheer me up." Dipper stood up, the floorboards creaking as he did so. The creaking continued as he walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs. Mabel stayed silent, her bubble of excitement quickly bursting. She walked to the living room, waving to the axolotl in the aquarium. She then sat down on the yellow reclining chair that Grunkle Stan always sits on, which reeks of old man cologne and seems to always be sticky. Turning on the TV, she began to watch Ducktective. "Hah, Ducktective always gets out of a tight squeeze! But wait!" Mabel gasped. "No way! His parasitic mutation from episode 20 is back and is mind controlling him? I swear, this show is really jumping the shark... That's enough TV for tonight!"
Mabel clicked the TV off. She checked the clock. It was almost 2:00 A.M. It was getting late. She didn't really take mind to that, however. She was already up and wasn't going to stop now. She grabbed some leftover Summerween candy from her secret spot in the kitchen, poured it all in a bowl, sat down back at the chair, and ate. She had to get the weight of what was really happening out of her mind. Maybe she could ignore it. Maybe if she thought hard enough, Bill would just not be in Dipper's mind. She began to rub her fingers on her temples, furrowing her eyebrows. Nothing happened.
This was going to be harder than she thought.
Crash.
Mabel jolted up, as she heard something from the Gift Shop area. Her fright had knocked the giant candy bowl with all of its contents on the chair and carpet. She stood up very slowly, creeping towards the curtain leading into the Gift Shop. The floor creaked. She stopped. There was more creaking, but it wasn't coming from her. The unidentified figure was getting closer and closer... Until...
Mabel screamed. The person yelled a grumbly and rough sounding shout.
The light hit the mysterious figure.
"GRUNKLE STAN! You scared the living crepes out of me!" Mabel panted, cracking an almost relieved smile. She was glad it was him of all people, but why was he up so late. Before he could say something, Mabel was already interrogating. "Wait a minute... What are you doing in the Gift Shop so early in the morning?"
"Well, I was restocking, like any normal con-artist/Mystery Man would at around 2:13 A.M." Oh, how he was lying. He had to keep that little secret of his. This was quickly getting awkward. "Hold on, why are you up?"
"Uh, Ducktective was on and I wanted some candy." She averted her eyes. He knew she was lying. "From one con-man to another, always keep eye contact. It's pretty easy to see that you're definitely lying."
Mabel laughed nervously. She couldn't tell Grunkle Stan about all of this. If he knows about the supernatural like he said, what if he's had an encounter with Bill before?
She couldn't take that chance, but the weight was killing her.
"So what is it really you're down here for?" Stan crossed his arms, smugly smiling down at his great niece. "Dipper was sleepwalking, so I followed him down, woke him up, and told him to go back to bed. I did, and then just kind of hung out down here.""Well, hanging out in the early morning alone isn't fun is it? Why don't you spend some time with your GRUNKLE STAN!" He grinned, and his shout shook the room a little bit. A painting fell down. "I'll fix that."
Meanwhile, Dipper tossed and turned in his sleep. Bill was talking through all of his dreams, probably trying to annoy the life out of him. He couldn't take it anymore. He woke up. It was 4:00 A.M. "Man, this night is going painstakingly long..," he grumbled, stretching out and looking over to Mabel's bed. She wasn't there. He bolted down the stairs, finding her and Stan sleeping on the chair, Waddles on top of them both. Sighing in relief, he sat up against the chair, falling back to sleep. Maybe tomorrow won't be so bad. Maybe Bill will keep to himself.
Maybe.
