Chapter 4: Honey, I'm Home!

"Honey, I'm home!" a familiar voice shouted from downstairs and I squealed.

"GEN!!!!" I rushed down the stairs, almost falling in the process and threw myself on the short red head that was my best friend in the entire world, Genevieve Rose. I'd known her since I was about 10 months old. She was my next door neighbor for 16 years, then her mom got a job in the city and she hade to move. She only lived an hour away, but it still sucked.

"Aw Lill-Bill I've missed you so much!" I grinned at the nickname, tears flowing down my cheeks. Yes, I'm emotional, but I haven't seen my best friend in 6 months. I had a right to cry. My face was still buried in her neck and I heard her sniffle.

"I've missed you, too," I mumbled. I eventually pulled away and we immediately headed for my bedroom. She threw herself onto my bed face first and moaned.

"You got a new bed," she stated, her voice muffled since it's shoved into the comforter. "It's comfy." I giggled. She sat up and patted the spot next to her. I gladly placed myself beside her, resting my head on her shoulder. "Now, tell me everything I've missed."

So I explained how my summer went and then how I started public high school, made friends with hot guys, and tried out for the cheer squad. I got to that part when suddenly I remembered what day it is.

"Shit! Colton is picking me up at 8:30 so we can check if we made our teams. And if we did then we have to go to a meeting. What time is it?" I asked, frantically getting up and searching my closet for clothing.

"8:10. Here, let me pick your outfit, you quickly do your makeup." I grinned.

"God, I've missed having you around," I said as I walked into my attached bathroom. I quickly put on concealer, mascara, and filled in my eyebrows. I brushed my hair, trying to straighten as much as possible before I rushed out to my room.

Gen handed me my outfit and I quickly changed, not caring if she sees. I looked in the mirror and grinned. She picked a simple, but cute outfit. I wore a black skater dress, a white cardigan, and white high top converse. She handed me a few long necklaces and matching earrings and then grinned at me.

"Damn, am I a fashion genius or what?" she asked, winking at me.

"You're a fashion goddess." She flipped her auburn hair, making both of us giggle.

"You have your bracelet on?" she asked, standing by the window, waiting to open the blinds.

"All the time. I haven't taken it off since, well, you know when..." I trailed off and she nodded, opening the blinds.

Suddenly the doorbell rang and I cursed.

"Can you get that and tell Colton I'll be down in a moment? I have to brush my teeth and grab my purse." She nodded, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I swear to god if you tell him what I said about him I will tear you to pieces!" I threatened. She sighed, trudging downstairs. I quickly brushed my teeth and got my purse together, all while I listened in on her conversation with Colton. She hadn't said anything bad luckily, just explained who she was and how we knew each other.

I rushed downstairs and smiled at Colton. He stood up from the couch, smiling back at me.

"Good morning, Lilli," he greeted as he walked toward me with his arms open. I bit my lip, knowing Gen was watching our every move. I wrapped my arms around his neck, his own around my torso.

"Good morning." I pulled away and saw Gen grinning at me so hard I thought her face would rip in half.

"We should probably get going. If you're late to that meeting Coach J will end you."
