Chapter 6: Family History
"What the hell do you want?" I growled. He smirked at me.
"Can't I pay a visit to my favorite little vampire?" He took a step toward me, but I didn't back down.
"How did you get out?" I asked, glancing around to see if anybody was near.
No way would Declan just let him go after one night. The plan was to drain the vervain from his system and then question him. Something must have happened.
"Oh, I can be extremely persuasive when I want to." He flashed me a mocking grin.
"What did you do, Camden?"
"See for yourself." He pulled out his phone, tapping away for a second before tossing it to me. I caught it with ease and looked down at the screen.
I was watching a video from what I assumed to be a surveillance camera of a girl in a room. She was tied to a chair, metal clasps holding her wrists and ankles to it. I studied her for a moment before gasping.
"Bailey?!"
Bailey was Declan's twin sister, also a vampire like him.
"So as you can see, it was quite easy to gain my freedom." He ripped the phone from my hand. I glared at him, feeling the blood rush to my face, fangs coming out. Bailey had been like the older sister I had always wanted.
"What do you want with her?" I growled.
"Oh, I don't want anything from her, just from you," he informed me, his hand slipping behind his back, not so nonchalantly.
I almost rolled my eyes. I'm a vampire for god's sake, doesn't he know that I can easily see every move he makes?
"And what could you want from me?" I questioned. This time it was me taking a step toward him.
"I think you know. It belongs to my family." I frowned at him.
"No, I don't. I have no clue what you're talking about," I stated, hearing footsteps behind me. He glared at me.
"Don't play dumb with me, you bitch, or I swear to god I'll-"
"Everything alright here?" Colton's voice sounded from beside me, cutting off Camden's threat. I quickly calmed myself down, the blood receding from my face and my fangs retreating.
"Oh, everything's just perfect," I responded, shooting Colton a small smile.
"Who's this? Your little bodyguard? Or better yet - your own personal blood bag?" Camden let out a sharp laugh and stepped toward me to whisper in my ear, "I'll see you again, Lillian, and you better have what I want or precious Bailey will die." Then he backed away, heading toward a sleek black corvette that looked strangely familiar. I shook my head and turned toward Colton. He looked like he was going to ask something so I quickly cut him off.
"Hey, I thought you left," I said, trying to act normal.
"I was about to when I remembered something." He slipped his hand in his back pocket and pulled out a phone. "I found your phone in the hallway." I sighed.
When did I drop that?
"Oh, wow, thanks. I didn't even realize I had lost it." I took it from him before giving him a quick hug.
