This is gonna be a normal length chapter for ya darlings you know who you are 💕💕

Phil was legitimately appalled. He and Iris had talked for hours and stopped only to breathe. How had he not at least fallen in love? He loved all the things she loved, mostly. She admitted to wanting to try Muse and Mario kart 8, though.

At this point in his life Phil was having a quarter life crisis. He had just finished university and had no idea what do with his life. Where had this sudden torrent of self doubt come from? He had been so sure.

Get your degree, work in your field, make your parents proud. He had never really thought about his soulmate much besides the drawings on his arms. The only time he was really interested was when she proposed meeting.

Phil remembered something about pronouns. He recalled that Iris identified with gender neutral pronouns, such as they and them. All this time he had been referring to them as she or her! Even in his head, it sounded like an asshole move. What kind of fool, can't remember the pronouns of their own partner.

He was doing it again. Emotionally and mentally destroying himself. Telling himself things he would never tell anyone else. He knew this kind of mindset was a burden but it was like a habit, almost impossible to break.

He eventually have up on trying to not beat himself up and instead began to recall every detail from the day prior about his soulmate. No way was he making another mistake im forgetting something important, similar to the likes of pronouns.

While he has scavenging and picking at his brain for pieces of conversation another memory surfaced. The boy with the pretty face! He also recalled seeing him get up and leave. Details of his tall stature stabbed at his brain like knives, distracting him from thoughts of Iris.

His fluffy hair, wise beyond his years eyes, slightly awkward lanky posture, and warm smile most likely set the tone for his personality. At least that's what Phil wanted.

He spent the rest of that day working instead of daydreaming more on his bed. Although he wouldn't have minded the at all. He worked until sun down that night. Keeping track of bills and accounts had really drained him. The one thought that kept him going until he finished was the idea of Pretty Boy, the title he had given the boy at Starbucks, having a deep and meaningful conversation with him just like Iris. But Phil knew each conversation would be vastly different.
