My name is-was Gabriel Silverback. Now, it's just Gabriel, Gabriel nothing. I was once part of the Blood Moon pack, that was until today at least when I decided to run away. I am now a rogue. Alone, lost, no pack, and worst of all; no mate. My blonde and brown hair laid across my face and the dirt floor. My mix match blue and green eyes dead and lifeless as I stared at nothing. A single tear slid down my face as the memories came sweeping back at me.
I was once a happy child born into the higher ranks of wolves. My father- ex father is the commander of the pack warriors. He is an excellent fighter and a great strategist. He stood at 6'3 with blonde hair and bright vibrant green eyes, my right eye is his eye color. And my ex mother, was even more beautiful than the Luna herself. Dark brown hair that fell down her back in waves and crystal clear blue eyes which is what my left eye looked like. She is the pack doctor and a amazing one at that, with her healing skills and our own personal powers we were healed in no time.
I was a spoiled kid that you could say, being in the higher up rank in the pack came with it's perks but no one was poor and no one went without. I just never had to ask for everything, anything that I would have wanted was right there in a heartbeat. Unlike what humans think, werewolves are born in human form and do not do their first shift until they reach ten years of age. That is where you will then discover what ranking you will be placed into when you reach eighteen years of age. The lowest of the low are the Omegas but our back are against having Omegas, well they were anyway. Then come the regular wolves. Nothing special about them, they can just shift. After the regular wolves come the pack warriors and depending on what your rank is for that the more status you get. The pack doctors come after the warriors and then of course the people in charge. Since the Blood Moon Pack is one of the largest in America we have three people in command. Our Theta, third in command. Our Beta, second in command. And of course our Alpha, the top dog. Get it? Because we're wolves, haha, I'm so funny.
Growing up as I child I was best friends with the Alpha's son, James. We were born on the same day just at different time. I was born at Midnight, right on the dot while the future Alpha was born only hours after me. January 1st, which is today in fact. There was never any tension with us sharing the same birthday, in fact it just made us closer. We were the dynamic duo, you would almost never see us apart. We had other friends of course, in fact every pack child was my friend but we had our ever own circle. It was James, Brian the Theta's son and Madeline, the Beta's daughter and myself. Once we became of age we would take over our respective spots. Brian would take over his father's position as Theta and James would take over his position as Alpha. Madeline was supposed to take over her father's position as Beta but since she is a girl there were some complications and after some talk the leaders decided to give that position over to me considering that I am the descendent of two very strong wolves. Not that I was complaining. Madeline would take over my ex mother's position of being the pack doctor, which is such an honor. Life was great for me as you can tell, everything was working in my favor, that was until my tenth birthday.
It started off like any other day, I was woken up to breakfast in bed. My ex mother and father sing me awake with happy birthday with huge smiles on their faces. My ex mother was holding a huge stack of skittle pancakes, my favorite(don't knock it till you try it) with a candle in the center of the one on top.
"Make a wish." I remember her grinning down at me, the love was shining in her eyes clear as day. I closed my eyes taking a deep breath and one thought ran through my head.
I wish to me the most beautiful and strongest wolf in the pack.
The day progressed as normal I was not allowed in the kitchen where the cake was being made or in the backyard since they were finishing the setup for the party. James, Madeline, Brian and myself were playing hide and seek in the large west wing of the house out of the way of everyone. Since none of us has shifted yet, we couldn't use our wolf senses to help out in the game which made it more fun.
Around three our parents called us down, the party had begun. There were so many balloons and streamers thrown around the place. The color scheme was purple and gold. Purple was my favorite color and gold was James. Closer to the trees there was a row of bouncey house that had kids already playing and running around in them. I remember James taking my hand, sending me a huge smile and dragging me towards the bouncey house that was not only the biggest but also had no children in it. Throwing our shoes off we raced up to the top of the bouncey house. Bouncing off of the walls and jumping on the floors as we pushed each other down trying to win whatever race we both came up with at the same time. We turned corners and hit the netting and I would see the light of sunlight just one more corner turn away before James grabbed me by my hand and pulled me back into him. Our bodies collided and we both fell the the plastic floor filled with air with a bounce. James laid sprawled out with his arms around my waist and my head on his chest. We found ourselves in this position a lot and while most found it weird our parents knew that we were just being kids.
"Happy birthday Gabriel." James whispered looking down at me with a smile.
"Happy birthday James." I said back just as happily. He sat up which made me sit up too. I moved off of his body while sitting down beside him.
"Have you gotten any presents yet?" James asked me looking at the floor of the bouncey house with a small blush.
"Nope, not yet, what about you?" I asked him back waiting for a response.
"No, and that's good. I wanted to be the first person to give you a present anyway." His blush grew deeper and he still wouldn't meet my eyes. I grew excited and started to bounce a little where I was sitting.
"Ohh, what is it? Can I have it now please? It must not be big unless that's what you hid at the other end of the corner and that's why you stopped me. That's it huh? Well come one then let's go!" I shouted jumping up and running for the corner again before, once again, I was yanked back by James. Before we could fall he steadied our stance but kept his arms around my waist. I looked up at him in confusion and this time he did meet my eyes.
"I think that you're my mate." He said quietly but before I could speak he continued on talking.
"We won't know for sure though until we hit sixteen but I'm almost sure of it. I love you Gabe, more than a friend. You're just so different." I opened my mouth to speak but before I would get any words out James' lips descended onto my own in a soft and awkward kiss. After a few seconds he pulled back, his blush even deeper than before. Once again he wouldn't meet my eyes and he looked embarrassed as to what he has just done. I stayed still for a few minutes before a smile broke out over my face and I wouldn't help but grin at him. Grabbing his hand I gave James the biggest smile that I could muster.
"I think that you're my mate too." He looked back up at me with shock before he smiled back and be both started giggling as we finished running through the bouncey house and went down the slide.
Later on that night around ten James and I were in a pair of shorts and t-shirts waiting for the shift to happen. Suddenly James fell to the floor violently, shaking and screaming in pain. I went into panic mode and dropped beside him laying his head in my lap as tears streamed down my face. He was in pain. My best friend hurt and there was nothing I could do about it. He laid there convulsing. I could hear his bones snapping and breaking, bending at odd angles as his body prepared for the shift. Black fur patches sprouted from his skin and after a long agonizing hour he was finally shifted. Standing up James was to my shoulder. He was a little wobbly at first but he soon got his footing and he was standing loud and proud. My transformation has yet to happen but it didn't matter at the moment as I looked at James in awe. His entire wolf was black save for the light brown paws and tip of his tail. With training his wolf and himself would become stocky and muscular.
With James now fully shifted the attention shifted to Gabriel who was waiting for his turn. And wait he did. He stayed up all night preparing for the pain that the shift would surely cause him. And when it didn't happen that night he waited the next day, and the next day, and the next day.
New book my peeps! First chapter is finished, finally. I was going to add a little more but it seemed like the chapter was too long so I decided that I was going to finish the rest of his life story either tomorrow or Wednesday. Please, if you see a mistake point it out and left me know, it would really help. Comment and vote if you think that this was a good chapter and if I should continue the story. I plan on doing five test chapters and if I can't get it to where I want it then I will either take it down or leave it at that. It's great to be back!
