•Chapter 11•
Confessions and Forgetfulness.
~Ian POV~
I didn't even know what to do. Emmalee was standing RIGHT there. Anthony whispered something to Emmalee, and then he stepped in. It must have been something about our private conversation, since she nodded and immediately left. Anthony looked down the hall way, then slowly clicked the door shut. "Ian." Anthony said. He sat on the bed and put his hand on the shoulder closest to him. "I'm sorry I made you upset. I should've heard the last of it." I cut him off, not wanting to hear anymore. "No no Anthony, it doesn't matter anymore." "Yes it does Ian. I'm your best friend. It matters to me." I smiled. Anthony is such a GREAT friend. "Thanks dude, but" "Ian. I'm here for you. Are you not comfortable talking about it?" Anthony said kind-heartedly. I sighed. "I really do need to get this off my chest." I looked at the ground. Anthony smiled. "Lets hear it Ian." I dazed off. What would Emmalee think if she heard? What she take it wrong like Anthony? Would she get creeped out and never come back? I don't want that to happen. I was snapped back to reality hearing Anthony's voice. "Ian are you ok to tell now?" I pointed my bright blue eyes back to him. "Oh uh... Yeah... R-r-right..." I said, shakily. "Ian, are you sure that you're ready? Cause' if you not that's fine..." I deeply exhailed. "Ok Anthony, I'm fine. Just give me a second, ok?" I glanced past him. He patted my back. "Take all the time you need, Ian." I swear, Anthony is the best friend a guy could get. "Thanks Anthony." "You deserve it." Ok. I know that I'm ready now. "I didn't mean it like that!" I blurted out. Anthony snapped his head around towards me. "Excuse me?" he said, cocking his brow and sounding offended. "No, no, no! I meant about Emmalee..." I said, trying to un-offend him. "Oh, then what did you mean?" My hair started to fall out of place, so I flipped my bowl so it turned back to its original, night time, messy, shape. "Like, like a parent. You get it? I felt like I was never getting kids, never falling in love again, and I lost all hope. Then Emmalee came along. And I felt like she was my own." Anthony nodded his head understandingly. "I get it. I get it SO much. These are the jeans I had on the day I found out we were coming here," he patted his pocket, with a lump in it. My eyes widened as he pulled out a ring case. "Oh my god Anthony! You were gonna propose to Kalel?" I said with my hands over my mouth, muffling the sound. 'Yeah... I was going to but a long distance marriage wouldn't work..." Anthony started tearing up. "Holy crap I'm so sorry Anthony!" I hugged him and he started sobbing. "Wh-why me-me-mee???" he cried. Emmalee must've heard the crying, because she burst in the room immediately. "Anthony, what's wrong?" Emmalee said, frowning. "Anthony was going to propose to Kalel, but we had to leave to come here." Emmalee ran over to us, turning it into a group hug. "Oh Anthony!" she shouted. "An-an-andd..." Anthony continued to cry. "And what?" I said. "You-you mean that you do-don't remember I-Ian?" his shaky voice said. "Remember what?" What was he talking about? "So you don't?!" Anthony angrily exclaimed. He pushed me off of him and ran to his room, tears dripping on the tan carpet. He left me and Emmalee, just standing there, confused. "Oh CRAP!" I said loudly, realizing why he was mad. "What?" Emmalee wondered. "Tomorrow is September 16th. It's Anthony's birthday."
