I've always watched... You never have... Never saw until that day...

I run, sprinting through the forest... I am fast... Fast as the wind... I am not myself... I glide through the snowy birch forest, leaping over logs, twisting and turning through the trees... I feel so free... My silver paws taking me away, letting me run, as I feel the wind rush through my grey fur... I see through sharper eyes, I smell through a stronger nose, I hear through enhanced ears... I feel the ground rushing beneath me... I am a wolf... I am a wolf... I am a wolf.

Beep! Beep! Beep!
I groan, as my alarm clock wakes me up from my enchanting dream. I roll over to shut off my annoying alarm clock. Grudgingly, I roll out of bed, (literally) and fall face first on the floor. Thud!

"Ouch."
My dad came running in.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" I wave my hand at him, sleepily.
"Yeah dad, I'm fine. I just fell out of bed. You don't have to make such a big fuss about it..." I mumble, not fully awake. My dad grins.
"Alright then, I'll stop helping. But first, there's a delicious breakfast I cooked this morning; are you sure you don't want some French toast before I stop helping?" He says, slyly. I perk up when he mentions French toast. My dad makes the best French toast in the world!

I jump up, off the floor.
"Race ya!" I say, and sprint off to the kitchen. I hear my dad call out behind me, saying its not fair that I got a head start, but I ignore him. I almost slide past the kitchen, but I manage to stop myself in time. As I run into the kitchen, I am overcome with the delicious smell of freshly cooked French toast, maple syrup, and strawberries. Slowing myself down, I walk over to the dining table where there is already a plate for me. My dad is the best.

By the time my dad has caught up to me, I've already made a drink of orange juice and I'm halfway through my first slice of toast. I look up at him as he enters, puffing.
"Jasmine, your dear dad's getting old. I can't keep up with you." I grin.
"Oh, come on dad. I'm not that fast. Now sit down and finish your French toast, because if you don't, I sure will!" I say as I swipe one of his strawberries.
My dad points his fork at me, menacingly, but really, he just gives me a chance to steal a bite of his French toast.
"Oi! Don't you do that!" I laugh at my dad, who is attempting to keep an angry face, but I can see him cracking a smile. He smiles at me and joins in laughing. My dad is the best.

After we finished our hearty meal of French toast, I go into my room to get ready for school. Once I've had a shower, dried my hair, gotten into my school uniform, brushed my teeth, and put my hair up into a ponytail, I go to my room to check the time. 8:02. I'm making good time. I grab my school bag and black Converse. I walk out to the kitchen and pack myself some food for break time today. I look at the clock on the wall, which reads, 8:08. Almost time to go. I suddenly remember my schoolbooks are still in my room. I sprint into my room, and grab my books. I also grab "Take Me Away" to read at school.

"Dad! I'm leaving!" I shout to him, wherever he is.
"Okay!" He shouts back, then walks out of the study. He comes up to me and gives me a hug. I return it, and give him a quick kiss, before slinging my school bag over my shoulder, and walking out the house.

I kind of love walking to school, especially because of the forest we have out behind our house. That's where the wolves live. My dad is constantly paranoid that one of them is going to attack me, like they did to mum... I suppose I haven't really talked about my mum, but that's because I don't really like to.

When I was 4, my mum went out into the forest out the back. My dad says that, like me, she had a fascination with the wolves. That day, mum spotted one of the wolves, which was common for her; the wolves were used to her being around. But this one wasn't recognisable by my mother. She knew all the wolves on sight and had even given them names. She slowly approached it, like you would a strange dog, but it attacked her. She was hospitalised, but the wolf had wounded her fatally. About a week or so later, she died.

Now, 11 years later, It still hurts. Sometimes I'll just be doing ordinary tasks, and I'll just get a flashback to her in the hospital, dad and I standing by her grave, or even things I don't remember, like seeing her reach out to that wolf. My dad is still terrified that I'm going to be attacked or hurt, like mum, but I know that they never would. 'Wolves are peaceful creatures' I have to assure him. But he's still constantly terrified for me. I walk past the woods, inhaling the smell of earth, trees, and faintly, wolf. It smells like wet, earthy dog to most, but to me, they smell like the moon. They smell like memories of winter nights, and things lost long ago. That might sound cheesy, but it's true.

Getting to school doesn't take very long, not from our house. When I arrive, I head in to the main building where my locker is, and trade all my schoolbooks for the ones I need for classes today; English, Art, Dutch, and a few others. Checking my watch, I see that I still have a fair bit of time until the bell rings. I head outside again and find a brick wall, where I sit and open up "Take Me Away." It doesn't take long for me to be captured by the scenes, and by the exquisite writing of Cecilia Opalman.

Just as I read a part where Angus is captured by Hades, Lord of Hell and the Dead, I hear a familiar voice call out.
"Jamsine! Over here!"
Marking my page, I look up and see my happy, always optimistic, can be slightly annoying friend, Georgia. Blue eyes gleaming, her red hair flying in the wind, she runs up to me, puffing.
"Man, I just ran here from home." She looks at me reading. "Whatcha doin'?"
"Oh, just reading."
"That's boring!"
"Not really." Georgia grabs the book from my hands.
"Yes, it is. Now be social."
"I don't wanna be social!" I whine.
"Well, too bad." She says. I go to grab my book back off her, but she holds it above my head.
Unfortunately I am not very tall, so I can't get my book back.
"I'm keeping this until the end of the day." She says, triumphantly.
"Why?" I plead.
"Because.
"That's not a proper reason!"
Suddenly, I hear my other best friend, Leila, call out to me and Georgia.

"Hey guys!" You can hear her from a mile away. Looking up we see her straight blonde hair flowing behind her. Slowing down to meet us, I see her gorgeous emerald-green eyes sparkling. She looks beautiful, as always. Just as she meets us, the bell rings to go to home room, so we all say 'bye,' and head our separate ways. After Miss Hondway marked the roll, and everything, we made our way to our first class. Mine was Geography, and I hate Mr Ellman. 'This is going to be so boring.' I think to myself.

Little did I know, it would be the complete opposite...

Cliffhanger! Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, these chapters take a long time to make, and (as surprising as it may seem) I do have an actual life. Yes, I know, shocking. But anyway, sorry it's taken so long, and sorry if it's long. I think it's the longest so far! But that's not really hard to do when a story has 2 chapters. Ok, I'm gonna stop ranting now, so you can go and do other stuff.

~~~Bye!~~~
