Wolf teeth... Bite marks... Blood on fur... An unforgivable act...

Walking into class, immediately I see that we have a relief teacher. I smile to my self, thinking that today's lesson will be fine. I sit down at my desk, but the seat next to me, normally occupied by Jackson, (an annoying, loudmouthed. spoiled daddy's boy) is empty. I'm confused, because, although I hate him, Jackson has not once missed a day of school for the past one and a half years. But I'm pulled out of my thoughts by the teacher.

"Uh, hello everyone. My name's Mr Hill. Um, I'm from New Zealand." he explains, but he doesn't need to. he has a very strong accent, so his name sounds more like 'Mr Hull' than 'Hill.'

"Ooh, a kiwi." I hear someone mutter, and more people giggling.

"Um, Settle down everyone. Uh, we'll be continuing what Mr Ell man has been teaching you previously. So, uh, please open your textbooks to page 144..."

Despite his accent, his voice was very monotone, and slowly it became background noise to me, along with people talking and the faint hum of the old projector. Routinely, I write notes and complete the work; my attention only half on school, the other half drifting off. But approximately halfway through class, something happened that pulled everyone's attention, even Mr Hill's.

A scream.

Everyone seemed frozen, no one moved, all listening as the faint echo of that terrifying sound faded away. Then, all of a sudden, people were in a frenzy. So many bodies, pushing, shoving, fighting to get out. I didn't join. I waited until everyone was out in the corridor, before I walked out.

Outside the classroom, in the halls, the crowds are worse. It seems like everyone heard the scream. When I finally get outside, I shiver. We're in the last few days of Autumn, and it's starting to get cold. Ignoring that, I shove through the sea of people. But when I reach the front of the crowd, I wish I hadn't. What I see there makes me feel sick. There is Jackson, lying in a pool of blood. There are bite marks on his face and arms, and his shirt is completely stained red. The teachers are attempting to herd everyone away from the gruesome sight. It's terrible and I want to stop looking, but I can't tear my eyes away. Suddenly, I get an eerie feeling that someone is watching me. Looking up, I lock eyes with something that sends an electric shock through my body.

Yellow eyes.

Silver Paws.

Grey Fur.

A Wolf.

Watching Me.

I feel a tugging on my sleeve, and I'm pulled out of my trance. I blink a few times, before I turn and see Georgia, who's trying to pull me away from the front of the crowd. I let her lead me, until we're at the back of the group. She spins me around to face her.

"What were you looking at?" I sigh. Georgia; ever the nosy investigator. She always wants to know whats going on and hates getting left out of things.

"Oh, nothing. I just felt a bit weak from the sight of all that blood. I was just taking a moment to clear my head." For some reason, it felt like I couldn't tell her about the wolf. It was strange, but I couldn't describe the feeling I had, and I thought it would be best if it stayed a secret until I could find a good explanation. The teachers finally managed to get all the students back into the building, and as I walked back into class, I heard the faint sound of sirens as an ambulance comes for Jackson. The next few lessons go by, almost in a blur. However after 3rd period, everyone is still buzzing and muttering, so the teachers decide to send everyone home early.

I call my dad to ask him to come pick me up, and he says he'll be there soon. I wait out the front of the school, watching other people getting in cars, hopping on bikes, walking home with friends, until my dad arrives. He pulls up in a parking spot and I throw my schoolbag into the boot of the car, hopping into the passenger seat next to to him. He turns to me with a stern glare. I sigh, internally.

"What happened?" he questions.

"Dad-"

"Are you okay?"

"Dad, just let me-"

"Did you get hurt? I heard they called an ambulance."

"Honestly, Dad, everything's fine."

"Just tell me what hap-"

"No Dad! Just stop with the questions, okay?!"I shout, an edge in my voice. I realize my mistake instantly, as his expression goes hard, and I see hurt welling up in his eyes. He starts the car engine, and reverses out of the car park. He takes one final glance at me, and we take the rest of the drive in silence...
