I got up this morning thinking about last night. I felt like I had made a connection with Justin that I never had with anyone else before. The way electricity shot through my body when our fingers touched. The way he understood me and listened to me like no other. The way my head fit perfectly in the crook of his neck. It had to be a coincidence, I couldn't fall for him. I only met him like a week ago. But it wouldn't hurt to get to know each other better.

My phone started ringing on my bed-side table. I didn't recognize the number but I picked it up anyway.

"Hello?" I croaked and looked at the time. Who the hell was calling me at 8 in the morning?

"Hey Ariana? Its me Justin," he said. My heart picked up its speed at the sound of his voice.

"Oh hey! Umm sorry but how did you get my number? I dont remember giving it to you," I questioned.

"Oh your mom gave it to me. She said just in case I ever needed it. So I was thinking, you wanna meet me at Starbucks at like, say 10?" Justin asked.

"I figured we could grab some breakfast and get to know eachother better."

"Alright, I'll meet you there!" I said, maybe a little too excitedly.

"Okay see you then, bye" He hung up.

I consciously thanked my mother and got up picking out my clothes. Since it was around spring, I decided on a red long sleeved tshirt and light washed denim high-waisted shorts. After, I had a shower and brushed my teeth I got dressed and did my hair. I decided to leave it out with my bangs pinned to the side. Looking in the mirror and checking my outfit, I grabbed my keys and started to head out the door when a voice stopped me.

"Where are you heading Ariana?" My mom's voice questioned from behind me.

"Oh nothing much mom, just hanging out with Justin for the day," I told her.

"Okay honey be back by 7 darling. I invited Pattie and him for dinner." She said.

"Okay mom bye," I said and headed out.

**Justin's POV**

I was waiting here in Starbucks for Ariana. After yesterday, I wanted to get to know her better. How someone could keep all those feelings bottled up inside was beyond me. I had no idea how much pain Drew caused her. Just the thought alone got my blood boiling. The next time I saw that jackass I will personally punch some sense into him. How could he hit a girl? Does he have no sense in him?

My thoughts were disturbed by a delicate voice.

"Justin?" I picked my head up to see Ariana, looking as beautiful as ever. I loved the fact that she wore no makeup. It made her seem confident and brave, quite the opposite of the vibe she was giving off yesterday.

After she sat down, I asked her, "Are you okay now?" I watched as she fiddled with her hands in her lap.

"Yeah I'm fine, thanks for everything Justin."

"Dont worry, if you ever need me im here." I told her. She was one of the strongest people I knew. God knows what else she kept bottled up inside. "So I was thinking, we should spend the day at the park."

She giggled, her laugh sounding like music to my ears. "We're 19 Justin. Out of all the places you wanna go to the park?"

"Oh c'mon, you're never too late to go down a slide or sit on some swings. And we can get to know each other better too." I shot her a cheeky smile and she gave in.

"Okay," she agreed.

**at the park**

Ariana and I were sitting on the swings at the park 20 minutes away from home. So far, I learned that her favorite color is purple, she kicked ass at grade school and she loves to sing.

"So what made you love music?" I asked her inquisitively.

"Well," she began staring at the birds on the grass as if in deep thought. "When I was about twelve or thirteen. I was alone at home most of the time because my mom would always be working, you know being a single parent. And I needed someone to talk to. I never had alot friends at school and all so I turned to music. It has helped me alot." Wow thats deep. I couldn't help but stare at her beauty. The way that the breeze made her hair fly back ever so gently. The way that I melted everytime I looked into her gorgeous eyes.

'Shut up Justin you met her a week ago,' my conscious told me. I know but I couldn't help it.

"Can I tell you something?" I asked her ad she nodded unsure if where this was going. "I like to singing too," I admitted not looking at her, afraid she would judge me.

"Really?" She asked looking at me and I nodded. "Thats pretty cool, we could jam out in the car sometime," I laughed at her thinking. Ariana is so easy going.

"Shit," she said checking her phone. "Its 6:30 we should get home. My mom said you and Pattie are coming for dinner."

"Okay since we both have our cars, i'll meet you there," I told her and she nodded her eyes twinkling. I got in my car and took a deep breath.

What is she doing to me?

**after dinner**

"Ariana, why don't you show Justin around the house?" Her mom told her.

"Okay mom. C'mon Justin," Ariana said and she grabbed my hand. I swear sparks fly when our hands touch and I know I'm being corny and shit but its true.

As she was showing me her bedroom, I couldn't help but notice she had a creative eye. Her room looked like it came out of a magazine. We were about to leave when something caught my eye. It was a locket on her bed side table, a silver chain and the pendent i she shape of a rose.

"What's this?" I questioned. She furrowed her eyebrows like she was battling with herself whether or not to tell me. "You don't have to tell me if you dont want to."

"No no thats fine its just..." She trailed off. "Thats the only thing I have left of my dad Justin. " A couple seconds went by and she talked again. "Apparently, when he left I was wearing it. He gave it to me and left. How could someone do that? How can he just leave and move on?" She whispered, her eyes brimming with tears.

Instantaneously, I put the necklace down and wrapped my arms around her. How can someone be so broken yet so strong. Ariana tried wiping her tears but they kept falling. I pulled away and put my hands on the sides of her delicate face, wiping her eyes with the sides of my thumbs.

"Don't worry. I'm not going to let you get hurt again. I promise." I whispered softly. It was then that I realized how close we were. Our lips were inches apart. She noticed it too, I could tell.

I started to lean in and she did too.

As soon as our lips were about to meet, I heard my moms voice from downstairs ruining the moment completely, "Justin? Are you ready? We're leaving now."

Ariana pulled away immediately and said in a quiet voice. "You should go Justin."

"Yeah," I said and I ran downstairs almost tripping.

"Justin you look like you've seen a ghost. Are you okay?" My mom asked.

"Im fine lets just go," I said hurrying her along. I sat in the car and took a sharp breath.

Way to go mom.
