Period Hacks

This isn't really a rant chapter, but rather, a hack chapter. I might do some more of these chapters. Vote if you like hack chapters!

Hack #1 and #2: Emergency Make Shift Pad and Emergency Cover

You knew your period would be coming soon, but didn't know when. The bell rang signaling the end of class. You stood up from your chair and the dreadful feeling came (you know the feeling I'm talking about). You ran to the bathroom as fast as you could, forgetting to grab a pad or tampon from your locker. You had nothing, except blood all over everything. 

The Emergency Cover is simple and fashionable and has gotten me through a lot of nasty situations. All you need is a sweatshirt. What kind of sweatshirt you ask? Well, it depends on the issue.

If you are a light flowed person you can use any type of sweatshirt or any color.

If you are a heavy flowed person, a heavier sweatshirt is advised.

I would especially recommend you wearing a red sweatshirt, it's very helpful for the times when you don't have a pad/tampon with.

Emergency Make Shift Pad:

All you are going to need is a sock and toilet paper. I would suggest wearing thick socks that you don't like very much when you are on your period in case this happens and maybe wear two pairs of socks. You wouldn't want to ruin a pair of socks that you really like.

It's quite simple. Place the sock in your underwear and wrap toilet paper around it. Voila! Emergency Pad ready for use.

How to not stain your bedsheets:

Put an old towel on top. It's that easy!

And as an extra bonus get a warm, wet rag and set it on your stomach to lighten some of those cramps.

Want easier to clean underwear?

Just wear bikini bottoms. If you leak, it washes out SO much easier.

Since we're talking about underwear, a little suggestion (you might think it's gross, but if you don't sweat much it really isn't a problem) wear the same underwear throughout your period. I would only suggest this if you wear a pad. 

This is okay cleanliness wise because you are changing your pad, your genitals aren't even touching the underwear.

This one isn't so much a hack, but rather just a helpful.

Record when your period starts and ends. It will help you have a general idea for when your period is coming. There are even apps that can help with this.

The Last Hack For This Chapter:

Make a secret word for you and your friends, so that you can discreetly talk about your period and no one will know.

The word that I use with my friends is Strawberry.

If I want to tell my friends that I'm on my period I just say, "I got my strawberries today."

If I need a tampon I say, "Can I borrow that strawberry pen again?"

If I need a pad I say, "Can I borrow your strawberry eraser?"

It's simple and so much more helpful.
