Spain is beautiful, too bad I'm stuck here at this airport and can't enjoy any of it's beauty... It was 10:33 AM... Where could you possibly be? My thoughts as I stare at the ceiling, before I could start imagining a worst case senareo I get interrupted by a gorgeous human being, tall, brown hair, blue eyes... for a second I thought I fell asleep again, I was snapped back to reality after repeatedly hearing "Señorita?"... Oh God that accent... " Señorita, puede que puedo ayudarle?" I immediately started looking for my dictionary but couldn't find it, "Lo siento no entiendo" I said hesitantly, I roughly remembered what I learnt from my 3-day spanish course my family and I took... "Yo no hable Español, sólo Inglés" another thing I learnt from the spanish course. "Do you need help? You seem lost," "I actually am, I can't seem to find my family, and I have no means of communication, with them or with anyone else, and my mother had the visa papers so I can't leave the airport and even if I did I..." I was talking really fast, he had to interrupt to understand what I was saying, "Calm down, calm down, you're a really fast talker! I can help you, just calm down and come with me."

He took me to passport control, and started talking Spanish with the man who worked there, it all sounded gibberish to me, the 2 words I understood were 'visa' and 'pasaporte', not long after the worker started doing the paper work and I finally took my visa. "Thank you for your help... Do you happen to know where I can exchange my dollars for Euros?" "Don't worry, I'll take you there, by the way I didn't get your name?" "Julia" "I'm Eduardo, my dad's incharge of the airport" rich... very rich... "Let's go get you a sim card, you'll need it".

We walked to his car, it was a black Chrysler 300S John Varvatos limited edition; apparently he’s richer than I thought he was. It took us about 30 minutes to get to the mobile shop he wanted to go to. He parked, took my phone, and got out of the car, and about 10 minutes later he came back, “there, the SIM card is in your phone, and if you don’t mind I already saved my number in your contact list, call me whenever you need me,” “thank you so much, I don’t know what to say,” “don’t say anything, I bet you’re hungry, wanna go have lunch?” “I’m starving actually,” “alright then, let’s go!” He took me to, probably, the fanciest restaurant I’ve ever been to in my whole life… As we entered, I found the manager of the restaurant greeting Eduardo, as if he’s known him for years… Eduardo had to introduce me to him, but not as a friend… “Garcia, that’s my date Julia, she just came from America,” “Oh, welcome Miss Julia, very nice to meet you, don’t worry Mr. Eduardo she’ll have the best food experience here… Geraldo, take Mr. Eduardo and his date to the best table we have, today everything is on the house,” “Thank you Garcia,” “Say hi to your dad for me please.”

The table had the best view, overlooking everything, the world seemed flawless to me, before I drowned in my thoughts of how marvelous the place looks, Eduardo started talking… “Marvelous isn’t it? I’ve been coming to this place ever since I was a little kid, my dad and Garcia have been friends since kindergarten, they always had this dream… of opening a restaurant together, but my grandpa wanted my father to continue his route, of being an engineer, and run the airport, dad’s passion is still cooking though, he comes here every night,” “He has the right to come here, it’s beautiful!” “So tell me, how did you get in this mess?” “It’s a long story but, my family and I are always busy, so we never have time to plan a normal holiday like a normal family, yet it’s never been abroad. We got our visas online, and booked our plane tickets under short notice, so we never found seats next to each other. As soon as the plane landed and people started getting out of their seats and leaving the plane, I could no longer see them. Mom is usually in control of everything when we travel, so she had our visas with her, that’s why I couldn’t get out of the airport, and that my friend was how I got lost in Spain, the end,” “That’s a very interesting and weird story… but don’t worry, dad will help you find them.”
