Thessaly lay on the couch in the 'human corner' of the base. It was late, the other humans had gone home already and the bots were already sleeping, even Ratchet. She sighed, shifted uncomfortably, and sighed again. Staring up at the high ceiling above her she attempted to go to sleep. After a ten minute, useless stuggle she huffed and got up. Walking as quietly as she could down the stairs, Thessaly ninja-ed her way to the base exit.
"Going somewhere?"
Thessaly jumped at the sound of Wheeljack's voice. He stood, leaned up by the exit, looking down at her. "I can't sleep." Thessaly admitted.
Wheeljack stood up from leaning and studied at the little human femme. Her bloody lip was still swollen, but thankfully not bleeding, and her left arm was wrapped up in gauze and an ace bandage. "Too restless from todays battle?" He asked her.
"Yeah," she replied thoughtlessly, then frowned, "And that couch is uncomfortable too."
Wheeljack transformed into his alt mode and popped the passenger door open, "Wanna take a night drive? It might clear your head."
Thessaly eyed him. "I don't make offers like this all the time, ya comming or not?" Wheeljack stated. Thessaly shrugged, then got in.
Wheeljack sped out of the base and out to the desert night. The two were silent for a while, Thessaly gazing with her head back at the stars. Wheeljack tilted his rearview mirror to look at her. "So how did you learn how to shoot?" He asked.
Thessaly glanced at the mirror, "My dad was a special agent, so naturally he wanted me to learn how to defend myself. I took classes and he coached me." There was a pause and then Thessaly asked, "What about you Wheeljack? What's your backstory?"
"I was an engineer before the war broke out." Wheeljack said, "Then I joined the Wreckers, got tough, got scars. When Cybertron went dark I got out in my ship and I ended up here with Team Prime. They ain't my style, and I prefer to go solo, but Bulk is family so I can't really leave him."
Thessaly wrung her hands, "I'm alone now... kinda."
"What makes ya think that?" Wheeljack asked.
Thessaly leaned back and looked out the window again. "Well, yes I'm not alone. I'm surrounded by people, you and Jack and Miko and Raf and the others. But what I mean is... I'm lonely. The only family I had is missing... or dead. So while I do have people around me, I'm not close to them like I was with my dad, or my friends." She explained.
Wheeljack was silent for a minute. "How about we strike a deal?" He said, "You and I will be friends, so you don't gotta be lonely until we can get your dad back. Hows that sound?"
Thessaly smiled, "Alright, but I hope ya know that gives me the right to give you a nickname."
"I already got one!" Wheeljack said, "Bulk calls me Jackie all the time."
Thessaly laughed, "Nah, that's his nickname for you. Anyway, there's already a Jack, that'll get to confusing. I'm thinking..." she tapped her chin in mock thought, "Wheels."
"What kind of name is that?" Wheeljack asked.
"Hey! Its more masculine than Jackie, and what else would I call you? Sunshine?" Thessaly defended, "What kind of name is Wheeljack, hmm?"
"What kind of name is Thessaly?" Wheeljack snarked.
"A Greek one!" Thessaly snapped back. The two burst out laughing. "I'm calling you Wheels, whether you like it or not." Thessaly stated.
"Thessaly is a mouthful, I think I'll call you Tess." Wheeljack said. "Tess... I like it." Thessaly thought aloud.
