Samaar's POV
It was Wednesday. Two more days until Sheath would tell me everything that was happening. At one point I was happy. But at another, I might end up being sad. The night we got married was the night I decided to go after him even if he hated me for that… I might actually do that if everything turns out to be false. But in the end, this week’s Friday is part of the future. I don’t know what’s in store for me because only Allah knows. I entered the MSA/Prayer room at my university. It was crowded with so many people. Well I guess you could say more than 85% of them were Muslim. The rest of them seemed like really nice helpers. I wasn’t alone though. Afsar joined the room a minute after I came and Sareena rushed in looking for me. When I found her I was surprised.
“What are you doing at an MSA?” I asked. She pouted.
“What do you mean? It’s a free country!” She replied. I laughed.
“No. Seriously, what are you doing here?” She smiled.
“I came to do some research.”
“For what?” I asked.
“A report. By the way, are they going to be doing an event today?” She asked.
“I don’t know. I just came in right now. I was looking for a girl named Khatira.” I looked around and didn’t see Khatira at all. When I looked around once more I found Tasneem working on a huge poster with a couple of other girls. I started walking towards her. When she saw me, she waved at me and called me closer. Me and Sareena finally reached her. I said salaam, as I greeted her with a smiled. She recognized Sareena and greeted her for the first time.
“Where’s Khatira?” I asked Tasneem.
“Oh, she should be outside talking to Jafar…” She said under her breath as she looked around to find Khatira. “I don’t know. You could check the second entrance. She might be there scolding some guy. Why? Did you need something?” She asked me as she smiled. I smiled back.
“Nah! I just wanted to hang out since I was bored and I don’t really know what to do in this MSA as a member. What are you doing though?” I asked her.
“Yeah, what’s the poster for?” Sareena asked.
“Oh, we’re just holding another event. We’re basically preparing for Eid I guess. Before Eid we do like a little fair the day before. People sell clothing, do henna and come for a late night snack. It happens every year so it’s nothing new. Oh and if you wanna find Khatira I suggest you find her before she gets busy with something else. The pressure on her head never sits.” I grinned.
“Okay! My older sister’s going to be coming soon too. You should meet with her.” I dragged Sareena with me even though she kept getting lost by looking at all the things in the room. Tasneem was right. Khatira was screaming at a guy. Or more like she was dissing him and he was doing the same. By this time Sareena had already disappeared.
“I told you, whatever you do is useless! If you keep doing more stupid things like this, you might actually ruin your whole entire life!” Khatira was yelling at this Jafar guy. He was pretty angry too.
“What does it have to do with you?? All you ever do is nag! You’re not my mother. Can’t you just let it slide?” He asked. At first his tone was full of hatred but then he toned it down as he asked her to let it slide.
“Jafar. You want me to let it slide? You want me to let this whole stupid, shitty business of yours slide? You keep doing it over and over again. It’s getting on my nerves and what? Why am I the one nagging at you?? You clearly know why! And I’m not saying this out loud because it’s too disgusting and impure. You make me sick all over each and every time you do this.”
