It comes to you when you're at your weakest, when you can't breathe.
When your coach is yelling at you to go one more time. "Don't give up on me now!"
You're trying your best, but you feel like your running in mud.
Your knees are buckling, and you're about to quit.
That's when it comes.
Everyone sees you. How much you are struggling to push through. They see all that.
It makes you want to stop even more. You know you look foolish and whiny.
The expression on your coaches face has pushed you this far. But you're beyond caring.
That's when the boom comes.
It's so strong it almost knocks you off your feet, not that it's hard at this point.
It doesn't come from your heart. Cause it's about to stop.
Not from your aching muscles, or the throbbing you feel everywhere.
Prior to what others think, its from your brain.
Most of your mind consists of the water you wish you had, how nice it would be to stop, and how bad your body is aching.
But there's this part of your brain, that suddenly believes in you. That's when you realize that most of your pain is in your head.
You suddenly turn into a robot, feeling every muscle and ligament working.
You finally finish, wowing the others.
You collapse to the ground, trying to breathe again normally.
Then you notice that you've proved everyone wrong, and that they never thought that you could do it.
Don't thank me.
Thank the boom.
