Her mind was reeling trying to make sense of everything that Lucas was saying. A lump in her throat was burning as she tried to hold down a laugh that was so determined to escape. He was delusional clearly. Her eyes stung from holding back the tears of laughter. She need air. "So yeah" He finally finished and she exploded. Her abs and her cheeks ached from the laughing. Her face bright pink with exertion. Lucas looked at her, his eyes narrowing, dumb founded. "Did you seriously listen to anything I said" He quizzed.
"Uh no, I'm sorry" Isla admitted apologetically amidst breaths of laughter. "I got distracted by your opening line" once more she toppled over laughing uncontrollably.
"We should sit down" Lucas said seriously. So seriously that Isla stopped laughing and stared. Maybe he was being serious. His eyes pierced into her soul and he reached for her hand shuffling them towards a free seat. "I'm about to repeat everything I've just said. Slowly, and seriously." He paused reading her expression. "I want you to keep an open mind. Everything I'm about to tell you is real its just up to you too believe." His deep grey eyes never wavered from Isla, sending a shiver down her spine. They were so close. Too close. He shifted every so slightly, and Isla sat back signalling for Lucas to go on.
"You aren't an ordinary person Isla. Your parents and you are special. Your real parents" He looked up allowing her to digest. "We, you and I are from a tribe of elf's. Well technically you and I are parts of different tribes. Both of us are royals" His eyes narrowed as I snickered. "I'm serious"
"Go on"
"Our parent's were part of the big War. Our tribes fought for years before we called a truce and fought together to fight another evil. Your parents, your real parents unfortunately didn't survive the war against the dark tribe but before everything went down they managed to hide you from our world." Lucas sucked in a gulp of air and continued. "When you turned 18, my parents sent me out in search for you in the hopes that i would find you and bring you home to take over the tribe in your rightful place as queen and honour our standing truce."Isla didn't know what to stay. Her eyes scanned the horizon, and her breathing increased. Everything was so totally ludicrous. Honestly, who did he think he was telling Isla fairy tales and expecting her to just jump in and believe him. She didn't even know the guy. Her heart thumped loudly, and her blood boiled. She looked down at the ground. "So what did you want me to make of this?" His palm outstretched towards her and she stared blankly.
"I want you to trust me." Isla scoffed loudly earning herself the disapproving gaze of people passing by. That's weird, they weren't there before? Her senses tingled, hairs standing up on her arms. Lucas's back straightened, slowly. So slowly that if the whole dynamics of the area hadn't changed she wouldn't have noticed. But she did notice, adding to her unease and feelings of fear. She tilted her head to the left, her eyes latching onto a pair of red slits in the distance. Her eyes narrowed and the red slits shifted. Okay that's not normal. Lucas gripped her hand and pulled her to her feet. He leaned forward, causing her to freeze as everything inch of her being recognized how close he was. "We need to move now." He whispered in her ear. An intensity in his voice that scared her. "Slowly, don't let them know that we know they are there."
"Who are they?" Her voice shook, as adrenaline pumped through her body.
"Members of the dark tribe." He held her hand, calm as they strolled through the park appearing like a normal loved up couple. "We have to go."
"Go where"
"To Eigion?"
"Where?"
"My kingdom." He was talking crazy again. Her eyebrow shot up and she paused. Maybe he wasn't crazy, maybe he was totally sane. It would explain everything that happened. It would explain the people now following with the snake shaped red eyes that trailed behind them stalking them in the shadows. So before Isla could convince herself otherwise, she locked her cold delicate hand in his open palm and raised her chin signalling him to lead the way.
Lucas led Isla to a small black vehicle parked around the corner in a deserted carpark. If it was in different circumstances she would've thought it suspicious and backed away. But the constant tingle in her senses and the subtle movement in the shadows behind her urged her forward. Lucas and her walked fast through the car park, their hands still intertwined together. Her faced was flushed, and her pulse was racing, but she was unable to determine if it was because of her hand being held so tightly by a guy who looked as beautiful as Lucas or from the physical exertion of walking so fast for so long. When they reached the car Lucas twirled her around, shoving her back against the car and pushed his hips into her, leaning close. Her breath hitched as she could feel the warm, soft breeze of his own breath of her neck. "I just want to make sure this is what you want?" He pulled back ever so slightly and looked deeply into her eyes. The intensity swimming in them made her freeze before nodding ever so slightly. "You won't be able to go back." He warned her, intent in being the good guy and letting her choose for herself. Without a second thought Isla put both hands on his chest, pushed him away ever so slightly and climbed into the car. Lucas jumped in beside her, revved the car and then drove them fast into the distance. They had been driving for what seemed like hours, her hands unable to stop shaking and her pulse not slowing down. That was too much she thought to herself. Her eyes, in-between stolen glances at Lucas, were locked on the scenery outside taking in the endless sea of tall brilliant green grass and tall trees that reached high up into the sky. In the far distance Isla could see the feint colouration of blue from an ocean or a lake. Lucas and Isla hadn't spoken much for the last two hours they had been driving. They started off trying to figure out what was going on, with Lucas going more in depth about the five tribes, Aurensburg, Cardinosam, Denborrough, Eigion and the Dark tribe. He explained that Eigion was where he was born, and that Aurensburg was where she was born. He explained that Aurensburg and Eigion were the biggest two tribes, with Aurensburg being stronger in power. He explained that Cardinosam were a much smaller tribe but the forces that they had were strong. He explained that Denborrough included people as well as elves, a small community that openly lived with the public. He explained that Eigion and Aurensburg had a small war in a fight for power that lasted for two years before they banded together to fight The dark tribe who were determined to combine the tribes and take over the elf community, He told Isla of the diffent powers that were available, smiling warmly as he explained how he could sense peoples feelings (much like Islas) and control items with his mind. They spoke until they had nothing more to share, and then they sat there in a comfortable silence listening to nothing else but the hum of the engine and the rate of each others breathing.
Isla's eyes opened as she felt the car slowly coming to a halt. She glanced sleepily at the clock. 21:04 it read, the sky had darkened considerably. Her legs were stiff from sitting in the car for longer than six hours without a break. She contemplated saying something, but she worried that her voice wouldn't work or be hoarse as she hadn't spoken for so long. Instead, she settled for looking outside the window. Her eyes widened in amazement and a gasp of surprise sat on her lips. It was beautiful. Gates of silver stood tall and high protecting a small cottage filled with people, or elves. The grass was so green and flowers lined the meadows like a sea of purple. Trees shaded patches of grass with benches and picnic tables, and the road was paved perfectly using coble stones and mud. It was something out of a story book. Her heart glistened and her eyes twinkled as she watched families of elves skipping around laughing, talking and waving at her as Lucas drove slowly through the street. She was awestruck, or well she assumed she was. But nothing compared to the magnificent emerald and silver tower, no castle, that sparkled in the sunlight standing high and making Isla feel small. She looked over at Lucas, who simply smiled at her. "Welcome to Eigion."
