Sollux strode down the sidewalk making his way home. The constant chatter of his friends filled in the silence and chittering of crickets, treading behind him as they approached his home. Feferi and Aradia's nonstop conversation being mixed with Vriska and Karkat's bickering. His father worked for a computer company and it was rather large and popular so the pay was good seeing as their house was two stories with a fairly spacious attic. Sollux walked up to the door retrieving the key in his pocket to unlock it. Walking inside, nor Aradia or anyone took time to take in their surroundings since they'd been here before. His father no where to be seen was no surprise for he knew he was busy running his business company. Mituna probably out with his own friends. Sollux led them upstairs and down the hall til they reached the end finding a hatch on the ceiling with a thin rope attached to it. Pulling it down a ladder unfolded allowing them to climb up into the dimly lit room. "JESUS IT STINKS IN HERE." Karkat grumbled. The only window letting small rays of light enter from the street lamps outside. Rustling was heard as bags were set down and Sollux turned on the light. It illuminated the room revealing a desk holding a computer and an old but stable couch on the other side of the room. Book shelves left from the previous owners, were filled with what Sollux presumed to just be strange novels and dictionarys, seeing as he'd never cared to even remotely glance at them.
An hour passed. Aradia had actually taken an interest in the books while Vriska proceeded to toss them on the floor making remarks like "junk" and "trash". Aradia, instead of reading, got stuck with picking up the books while trying to get Vriska cease her childish antics. "Ew." Vriska spat, another book tossed into the air hit Aradia on the head earning a frustrated growl from her throat when she noticed the strange symbol on the hard cover of the book. She picked it up feeling it's leathery texture as she flipped through the pages. Vriska noticed none of the books on the shelves were being replaced, turning around she smirked deviously hovering over Aradia's shoulder. "Oh? Whatcha got there Megido?" "It seems t0 be s0me kind 0f ritual b00k, it's all in Latin th0ugh, s0 I can 0nly read s0me 0f it." Aradia stated flipping the page again. "So like, summoning stuff?" "S0me 0f it is, yes." "0nly, s0me 0f them are curses." Vriska's smirk grew wider. "These rituals here are ab0ut summ0ning dem0n slaves." Vriska snatched the book startling the very concentrated girl, tossing it behind her. "C'mon Megido! None of that stuff actually works!" Vriska snapped placing her hands on her hips, drawing attention from Sollux. Sollux had; had enough spiritual experiences in his life. Even as a child he would see his mother who'd passed away when he was just a newborn.
He stood up from the couch, which now looking back at it was the stupidest descision he'd ever made. "II bet you twenty buck2 that 2hiit work2." Vriska cocked an eyebrow, her sinister smile never fading. "Oh really? Prove it, Captor! I dare you! If you're so brave." She taunted. Sollux was hesitant. His mind second guessing itself. 'What iif II actually 2ummon a demon?' 'What iif iit kiill2 u2?' 'What iif II get po22e22ed?!' "Ey' Captpor, we're waiting!" Vriska waved a hand in his face causing him to smack it away. "Okay, II'll prove iit then." Sollux grabbed a book choosing a ritual at random. The materials and instructions needed were written off to the side in English. He ran downstairs searching Mituna's room for a piece of chalk, only to find one desolate stick of purple chalk. Picking it up and examining it, he shrugged. "IIt'll do." He read the list seeing as a knife was required, as was a rose. After going through the kitchen knives just I find a small one, he took a perfectly healthy rose from the flower vase in the living room along with a few candles and matches. Running back upstairs to the attic he set the book down and drew the ritual circle with the purple chalk, mirroring the one in the book. He then tore off the petals from the rose and layed them in the middle. After placing candles around it in a square shape he read the instructions. "A blood-what?" He whispered to himself. Shaking his head, he sighed. No matter how ridiculous it sounded. He took the knife and slid it across his wrist letting the beautiful crimson liquid fall into the middle of the circle. Picking up the book he gave a puzzled look at the encantation. "Uh-II don't know how to 2ay thii2. AA?" The encantation, unlike everything else, was in a different language. Whomever the previous owner was, wrote the pronunciation out below it however. Aradia gently took the book from his hands reading it for herself. "Repeat,Bedt0htd0htyahkem Ayemnehtd0ht Seht0hty00dtlyr." "Bedt0htd0htyahkem Ayemnehtd0ht Seht0hty00dtlyr." "Bedtohtdohtyahkem Ayemnehtdoht 2ehtohtyoodtlyr."
Waiting patiently soon the candles went out and it was eerily quiet. "I knew it! It's a load of bullshit people make up to sound powerful and stupid. Now I want my twenty dollars!" Vriska bragged like a three year old. Aradia shrugged. "Maybe we did it wr0ng?" Sollux reached for his wallet, ignoring the shadow engulfing him.""I wwould'nt be so quick to grab my wwallet, Sollux Captor."
