I sat by my window, watching the rain lashing against my window pane . It had been forty eight hours since the rain started. It was the heaviest in ten years- I heard the guy on the news channel say that it was likely to continue for the next 24 hours. These 48 hours had been the toughest for me as I wasn't able to see my love .Yes!! Her name is Sanyukta - that's what I heard her mom call her. She helps her parents at the corner bakery , after college where they sell those awesome pastries . . Though she doesn't know about it but I'm in love with her since fifteen months and five days .
The mere sight of her sends all my senses on a strike leaving my heart pounding so hard inside my chest that it resonates loudly in my eardrums. Im sure we've had some connection in the past. But What if I don't get a chance to express my love for her . What if she rejects me ??? All these thoughts kept buzzing around in my head and made me feel dizzy.
A few minutes later , my gaze caught the sight of a faint light inside the bakery.
'It must be her...' , my heart said.' It has to be her...', I said to myself stumbling down the staircase. I ran through the alley and crossed the road. I was all wet and drenched in the rain by then but the love burning inside me kept me warm.
As I reached the door of the bakery, I could hardly see anything inside through the glass.
I hesitated not knowing what to do. The rain was soaking me through but I knew my love was true and it couldn't be washed away. I was determined to say it to her that day. The doors opened and there she was. My love. She looked at me and then smiled."Sorry we are closed", she said in that melodious voice of hers.
I waited for the words to come out of my mouth, but it didn't. I just smiled in return, hiding my anguish . I turned my heels and walked my way back in the rain.
I stopped at the steps of the building and turned my back to look in the the direction of my love. I was surprised to see her coming towards me with a broad smile . My heart skipped a beat at the sight. She half walked and half skipped holding an umbrella , which was barely doing its job. Her white dress was now sticking to her legs and her hair were clinging around her waist .
My heart started pounding and pulse started racing super fast. But the next minute, I felt a sudden jolt of pain as she walked past me towards a Mercedes that came to a halt behind my back. The door opened and a tall handsome guy stepped out of the car . My world was shattered into pieces. I felt as if he ripped my heart off my chest and squeezed it till death as he hugged her and kissed her in front of my eyes.
I heard her laugh, a playful laugh which urged me to run towards her and scream out loud,
"Not him, me..... I was the one who loved you secretly for months... not him, it was me"But I remained rooted to the ground with a crushed and a broken heart and watched her drive away . How do I mend my broken heart when my entire world has fallen apart.
How do I find hope in a brand new day,
when the one I love has gone away?To be cont ......
