Cody's POV

Ugh I hate this whole shifting towns stuff that too just when everything was going on so perfectly. High school was like just an extension of middle school for me. Most of my friends got into the same school as me. I got popular pretty quick as I had been hanging around with my elder brother, Alex and his friends all the time. I was the one with the best prank ideas. I had all the girls going crazy after me. I even got selected into the varsity football team right away. What more could I ask for? Everything was in my favour. It was all going perfectly well for me but Dad had to go ahead and destroy it all.

And well changing towns was one thing, I could have dealt with. But going back to where we actually came from? That's complete foolishness.

I don't remember much from when we lived here before. I was just eight when we moved away but what I do remember is that there wasn't anything much there. Nothing fun anyway. And it's been eight years since then. I have moved on so much. I didn't want to come back here ever again.

"Cooodddyyy" my mother screams from downstairs.

"Coming, mom. I'm not deaf, ya know" I say as I head to the kitchen. "Watcha happened?"

"There's nothing to eat is what happened. And your dad had to go out now itself."

"Okay okay I'll go get some takeouts." I say grabbing my car keys and heading out.

Back home we could have just ordered something and chilled out in front of the tv. Who knows if this small town even knows what a takeout is.

"Ugh I hate this town sooooooooooo damn effing much", I think as I step harder on the gas.

Obviously it's not my own car. I just got my license. It's mom's old one but thankfully it's got a GPS. Hell knows what I would be doing without it right now.

I head into a pizza parlor called Cheezza Peezza. My first impression is that it looks as weird as it's name but then the smell hits me. It's the most amazing smelling pizza ever. My stomach growls in anticipation though I haven't even ordered anything yet.

I place my order and stuff some flyers advertising the home delivery into my pockets. Turns out this place really doesn't have any take-out options.

As I sit at a table to wait I look around and finally realize what's so strange. This place has a variety of sitting options. There are some booths in a corner but they look like they are only half built or half broken. Depends on how you look at it. In the rest of the part there are random furniture thrown around. From barstools to couches everything's there.

Also the lighting here is really dim, not in a pleasant candlelight type of way. More like a we-can't-afford-to-even-buy-a-bulb kind of way.

Ugh this place. I think I'm gonna get a permanent headache just from living here. Three more years of high-school, means three years living in this hell hole. It's gonna be even more of a hell than I imagined.

There's almost no one else. Just a kid sitting in a corner and studying, though I don't get how anyone could study in such dark conditions. There's a couple sitting in one of the booths. The girl is really pretty with soft features and warm brown coloured hair framing her delicate face. I look away. I really miss Andrea.

Gotta stop thinking about her. I look around wildly to find something else to distract me. My gaze lands on a wall I had skipped over earlier. Its covered with graffiti. Really good one. I've no talent in art, not even enough to appreciate a good one when I see it but even I could see how good this was. There are lots of names and faces. All sorts of random stuff. Still they go together in a really good way. It suits this place too as it is full of the same randomness.

My order comes along much quicker than I anticipated. I grab it and head out. There's an ice-cream shop next door. I head in. Who says no to ice-creams anyway? Its so much cooler than outside and smells heavenly. I sigh. Its much crowded as compared to the pizza parlor. There is a group of teenagers hanging out.

"Yo," someone pops up next to me at the counter. "You new here?"

"Yup" I say.

It was a guy with floppy hair which almost covered his eyes. He has a mischievous face. Same as Alex. We strike up a conversation and turns out his name is Troy. He goes to the school I'll be joining this fall. He did all the talking. I just kept nodding and saying 'Yup' except when he asked me my name because that of course would be weird. We exchange numbers and he invites me to a party tomorrow night saying he'll text me the address.

"So I'll introduce you to everyone you need to know tomorrow."

"Yup" I say for the millionth time though I'm not sure why.

"Dude you don't look like a cowboy but definitely sound like one." He says grinning.

"Yup" I say grinning right back at him.

Great. Few hours in this place and I'm a cowboy. What's next? Dracula?
