A Striking Meeting

The day of our meeting was very anticlimactic, there were no sparks or fireworks, why would there be? I was just hanging around in my package, with the rest of my kind, when I felt movement. A lot of sudden bright light assaulted my vision(?), and I tumbled onto a sort of hard surface. I looked up to see a strange being hovering over me. Who/what the hell was that thing? It looked hideous, it seemed to be wearing a piece of cloth wrapped around it's upper portion of it's figure. Need I mention the cloth was in an atrocious shade of pink? The... thing was shouting gibberish with a hole that moved on it's... head I suppose. I cringed, well, the best that a dart such as myself could actually cringe. Why must the thing be so loud? The only object louder than that thing was a sample stereo being blasted full volume 3 lanes down. Why can't it just not make noises at all? Us 'inanimate' objects have no problem just conveying our words through what I guess you 'living' beings would call 'telepathy'. But I digress, on with the story.

Suddenly, to my surprise the thing suddenly reached out a fleshy appendage and grabbed me around the middle. The next few seconds passed in a blur, I was suddenly airborne and before I could conjure up a will I struck a surprisingly soft yet firm object.

"Oh hello there!"

I realized what I had struck, a board, a dart board to be exact. I know what you're thinking, you're thinking, 'Oh but how can you possibly know it's a dartboard if you didn't even know what a human being was back then?' Foolish mortals, I heard from the darts that heard from the other dart which heard from the nail which heard from the rogue screw down the aisle that apparently there was this other, bigger object that was compatible with us darts, called a dartboard. They were round with several multi-colored rings and spaces on them. The strange thing with objects such as ourselves, is that when two compatible objects meet, they feel this strange pull, as if they were almost meant to be. It's like some screwed-up version of a cheesy teenage girl's romance story.

Like a key and it's paired lock. I heard from the manager's key that when it touches the lock that it was made for, it feels like it's entire life suddenly has meaning. Like it's actually living, it's quite sad actually, how many objects depend so much on each other to actually have meaning. Take the rogue screw that I told you about for instance, it's always depressed. Why? Because it'll never be used, probably just tossed somewhere and forgotten for the rest of it's existence, from what I heard from the nails, it accidentally tumbled out of it's packaging and landed on the shelf and was there ever since, no one bothered to pick it up, or even steal it.

But anyways, when I managed to regain my wits I realized that, yes, I did hit a dartboard. Well then, I didn't really expect to actually meet one like this but half a loaf is better than none right? Not that I would know, I've never eaten bread in my entire short existence.

"Err..." I was at a loss for words, what do I say? What does something, whom has never even seen a dartboard, let alone touch one do in such a hurried environment? I wasn't ready for this! This wasn't how I wanted our first meeting to be like!

"You must be new." The board seemed absolutely unruffled by my lack of eloquence.

"Umm, yeah I am, and you?" I mentally slapped myself, dumbass.

However the board laughed (?), "Oh me? I've been here for a few days, though I've never been used before. My shipping didn't include darts."

"I... see." That was the beginning of something magical- as some emotional, annoying, sexually frustrated main character anime girl in every shoujo anime there is would say- twisted, but magical.

Okay, so as I said, weird story, but it's a request. I don't know how this thing will turn out, or whether it's good or bad, I've never done this sort of prompt before. Soooo, yeah.
