《Chapter 1 - Smile》

*Amy's PoV*

"Mom?" I called out. I look around and see no sign of her or anyone. There's darkness everywhere and a little bit of light from the moon and the stars. I didn't realize I was in the middle of the forest of tall trees. "Mom, where are you?"

I started walking until the ground was eating my feet slowly. I cried for help even though I knew no one would hear me.

Suddenly, a beam of light appeared that'd make you blind if you don't closed your eyes.

"Amy?" I heard a familiar voice said.  "Amy? Amy, open your eyes." Someone held my hand. When I open my eyes, I saw my mom wearing a hospital gown, she looked at me with a smile.

"Amy, can you promise me one thing?" I nod. "Promise me to always smile even on hard times, promise me to always be happy and always look for the bright side. And always remember this, no matter how many negatives there is in you or someone there will always be a positive. Always make everyone smile, okay?"  With that I knew she was dying. "I p-promise." I said, crying.

The moment she closed her eyes I started crying. "Mom? Please don't go." I begged and begged. I cried on my knees.

...

"Shh... Its okay. I'm here Amy, I'm here." I felt someone hugged me tightly. "Its just a dream, Amy. Just a dream." I opened my eyes and saw dad. I hugged him tighter than his grip. I cried on his shirt.

Mom.

She was always there for us. I was the happiest whenever I'm with her and the saddest when she moved away. She didn't really die like in the dream. She just left us. She left because of her father. We all knew she never wanted to leave, but I guess she had to. We never knew why she left, or where she is right now.

I don't get how I still got those nightmares, I mean that was years ago when she left.

"Shh... Its okay." After a few minutes of crying, I'm finally done. He pulled away and stood up. "You better get ready. New school remember?"

I smiled and nodded. "Thanks Dad."

"Now that's the smile." He chuckled and walked out of my room.

*~*~*

New school.

New friends.

New experience.

Dad dropped me off a few minutes ago and I'm still standing here staring in front of the school.

I sighed and entered the school with a smile. As I walked I can feel all eyes on me. Why? Is there something on my face? Is there something wrong with my outfit?

I looked down at my clothes, there's nothing wrong with a white dress and a black blazer, is there? Or maybe its my shoes? I hope not.

I was looking for the principal's office or at least the someone who could give me my schedule.

I entered another hallway with less lockers and more doors.

"Umm... excuse me, do you perhaps know where the principal's office is?" I asked a blonde girl, she kinda looks like a doll.9

"Oh yeah, I'll take you there." She gave me a sweet smile. I thanked her and followed her to where she's going.

"I'm Chloe." She said. I smiled at her and introduced myself as well, "Amelia. But call me Amy for short." She seems nice. As we were walking she started telling me about how her boyfriend, Garrett, is afraid of cockroaches. It made me feel somewhat better knowing that at least one boy is afraid of the little creatures that us, girls (or most of us), is afraid of, or hate.
