It's raining.
The most beautiful words that could ever pop into my head. Its raining. I spread my arms out and feel every raindrop land on my gloved arms. The feel of the water that falls from the sky lifts the pain of the wounds that I have just endured, washing the blood from my clothes and skin, making me new again. I look down at the now limp and lifeless body of rebel orcs and their alley troll victim. As much as I wish I could have been here sooner, it looks that I would not have been able to save her.
I lift the side of my skirt and place my revolver back into my thigh holster and take a closer look at the orcs. They must have asked a potion master to create a morphing mix. They looked almost human when they pasted me by. If it wasn't for the fact that they still spoke in there orc tongue, I wouldn't have suspected anything. Dumb asses.
Now that the rain has started it has washed away the potion revealing green tinted skin, protruding tusks from the corners of their mouths and black colorless eyes. I kick one with my foot. "Scum bag," I say out loud as I pull out my phone.
"Hello, Gate Keepers clean up, Identification please."
"Lexi, just fucking send someone to the alley on Braxton and let me handle the paperwork later. I'm tired, irritated and I want to got to sleep," I growled over the phone.
"Hey Abby," she sighed," How many and how many bodies?"
"Two orcs and a alley troll," I replied irritably, then added, "One Victim."
"Ok," she said with concern, "I'll get someone on it quickly, but you need to slow down on these deaths, this is the fifth on and its only Tuesday."
"Just make sure it's done, I don't want anyone finding the bodies," I replied then hung up the phone.
I give one last hard kick to the orcs head, then I looked down at my arm. the large gash that was originally there, was shrinking with every raindrop that hit it. Using any water to heal was a good thing. I didn't need or want to carry around a large container of salt. I pull back my sopping black and blue hair into a pony tail. It's time to leave.
Back at my small apartment, I striped my soaking wet clothes and tossed them on the bed. I'm so sore form the fight and patrol that I barely even notice Frank talking to me.
"Out late again?" He said with as much of a smug look a gold fish can muster, "I hope you where out with some hunky human male and NOT out demolishing the supernatural population." For a little goldfish he had a really big attitude.
"And now its sleepy time," I say as I cover the fish tank with a black cover," You have a long day of being sarcastic and annoying the shit out of me."
I'm Not going to sleep, this will not work you stupid...." He tried to finish, but, as usual, he fell asleep.
I sighed, now I can have some peace. As I play with the black pearl around my neck, I grabbed the salt off the counter. I start my bath and slowly pour the salt in. I breath the scent. Thoughts of Gabriel start to slip into my head. No. I cant think of him or what happened that night. I striped off my undergarments, and slipped into the hot water. The warmth filled every of my body. Then it started. I could feel the familiar feeling of my two legs becoming one. Blue scales pushing through to replace pale skin, my feet spreading to create my tailfin. No longer to be confused as a human, I flip my tail over and lull myself to sleep.
I hope tonight I will not dream of him and the other mermaids like me.
