Month 5 Day 16; 2:41 p.m.
I closed my car door and stepped out into the yard in front of Noah's house. Noah was rushing down the stairs of the porch in a frenzy, he reached Autumn and I just as we rounded the head of the car. Noah was panicking over something.
Two hours ago, Noah had sent us a message via long range radio. He wasn't exploiting details on what had occurred, he had only asked that we come immediately, and now, we were here.
"You guys need to see this," he said, out of breath. He then turned back to house and started running inside. I looked over at Autumn and she looked at me. I looked back at the house and decided to run after Noah.
Autumn and I made it through the door before the foul scent of rotting flesh hit our nostrils. I covered my nose in slight agony. The smell was atrocious and lifted the bile from my stomach that wanted to protrude my mouth, but I swallowed it before it escaped. I again looked at Autumn who was doing the same thing I was. I turned back to see that Noah had stopped over something in the middle of the hallway. A corpse.
"Who is that?" I heard Autumn ask. Noah turned around and looked at us with tears in his eyes.
"Emily." I couldn't move. That was Emily, or at least what was left of her. I couldn't make out any of her features, as if she had been burned. I was horrified.

We gave Emily a proper funeral later that day. One of our own. This was the first one of my close friends to die, but she hadn't been killed by a walker so that meant that we had a traitor in our midst. We had two people unaccounted for at the time, Marshal and Jacob. Marshal said that he had been in the garden tending to the freshly planted cabbages and Jacob had been touring the fence, checking for cracks. Autumn and I were put on the case as investigators, and we went to sleep for the night, after the funeral for Emily. I vowed on Emily's grave that we would find out what had happened to her. Now, Autumn and I had a murder to unravel, and a traitor to find.
