Month 5 Day 31; 11:46 a.m.
"Alright. Noah, David, Nicole, Lee, Chloe, Jasmin, and Scarlet, you all take the portables, greenhouse, and training fields. Jake, Ciara, Seth, Bailey, Rachal, Gaven, you all take the softball, baseball, and football fields and locker rooms. Autumn, Hailey, A.J., Ben, Sasha, River, Tony, and I will take the school. We will meet back here when we are done. Alright?" They all nodded and took off for their respective tasks.
Autumn took point as we headed toward. Hailey was on her left, followed by A.J. and Ben. On Autumn's left lied River, Tony, and Sasha. I covered the rear. We followed Autumn into the school and saw that only the outside doors were broken. Autumn walked past a classroom door and peeked in. Suddenly, she jumped back and readied her weapons. Everyone immediately followed, unsure of what had caught Autumn off guard. She turned to us looking puzzled and spoke.
"They're locked in the classrooms." Tiny whispers shot up amongst our group and Autumn shushed them all into silence once more. We continued down the hall and we came face to face with a walker roaming the halls. Autumn motioned us back and took a single knife from her collection and targeted the dead freak. She threw the knife and stuck it right in his head. He collapsed onto the floor and didn't move. I raised my hands together and sarcastically clapped, Sasha let out a tiny giggled, but Autumn silenced us with one glance. We continued our way down the hall and made it to the hall outside of the gym. This wall was a checkpoint, a stage in our plan. From this location we would split into two teams and scout the upper classes and the classes to the right at the same time, and the team that got to check the classes to the right would also get to check the gym and the concession stand.
"Alright. Autumn, A.J., River, and Hailey take the top. Ben, Tony, Sasha, and I will take here." I placed my hand in Sasha's and she smiled. Autumn slid her hand between Sasha and me, cutting our connection.
"That's not happening, Romeo. Sasha, with me. River, keep lover-boy in line." Autumn grabbed Sasha's hand and led her up the hall. River quickly sucker punched me in the gut. I winced and she giggled and quaintly skipped down the hall.
"You, my sir, are the dumbest man alive," Ben stated as he strolled down the hall holding hands with Tony. Were they a thing? That was way too personal for me to get caught up in. Their relationship status was entirely their own. I gathered myself and joined the others as they inspected the bathrooms. I journeyed passed them and checked the two classrooms at the end of the hall. I peeked into the room and saw approximately thirty walkers roaming around inside. Had someone put them in there? If that was true, where were they now? I checked the other classroom and found the same predicament in that room. I turned back and jogged to join the rest of my group as River started to check the doors to the gym. River took the doors and shook them violently. I ran to her and tried to pull her away from the door when I heard something bang on the door from the other side. River jumped back and immediately loaded her crossbow. The banging slowly settled down and I placed an ear to the door and listened closely. I heard what I needed to and took a step back.
"The gym is filled with walkers."
"That is going to be an issue," Tony said. I think that was the first time I had ever had him speak to me. He had a sort of groggy voice that made him out to be about twenty when I figured he was only about eighteen.
"We'll deal with that later. Now we need to check the-." The door to the concession stand slammed shut as I turned my head. I grabbed my pistol and aimed it at the door. Everyone else readied their own weapons. I approached the door and signaled everyone to stay silent. I placed my ear to the door and listened. All I heard was rustling. Then suddenly, the door flew open and I fell onto the ground. I quickly recovered and lay on the ground, aiming my gun at the figure that opened the door.
