Prologue
Lucas’s POV
January 2016
Everyone knows that everyone dies. We just never know when. You think you have all the time in the world. We take everything for granted. Friendships, emotions, possessions. And when there taken away from us we realise how important they really were to us.
Savannah took life for granted. She was popular, beautiful and never regrated a thing. She partied hard with friends that she took for granted, fooled around with guys that she took for granted and was very manipulative. She was the perfect description of a “Queen Bee”. And she was my best friend.
As a young girl, Savannah was always popular. Girls would crave to be friends with her. Guys would crave to be close to her. She was so stunning. I guess Savannah took a shining to me because I never expressed any interest towards her, love interest that is. We became great friends. She was the best person ever.
Things changed dramatically when we got to high school. She made new friends and so did I. Her new friends were popular and beautiful just like her and mine weren’t so popular. But that was just how high school is. No one ever disturbs the high school status quo.
We lost contact after a while. When we did talk we would argue a lot. When she was around 14 or 15 she started going to parties with her new friends. She would get drunk every weekend and that was just a usual thing for her. I didn’t even recognise her anymore.
Over time our groups and others started hanging together. We saw a lot more of each other in a short amount of time and I got to know the new Savannah. I liked this Savannah. She was more mature in some ways and more beautiful.
Savannah got a boyfriend soon after we became friends again. She was so happy with him and they looked great together. Her life was falling into place perfectly
Until everything took a turn for the worst. Her life spiralled down and down into a dark pit that she would never return from. October 28th 2011 was the last day Savannah was truly happy and had no worries in the world.
It saddens me to think that a girl like her could be brought down by so many unfortunate events in such a short amount of time.
Savannah was strong and brave and when it came to the end she was surrounded by everyone that loved her. Savannah stayed sane when she could have crawled into a ball and let the big black hole swallow her. Her story deserves to be told so everyone can see the strength that this one beautiful girl held on too.
