"Lisa are you finished your homework yet? It's already six." I shot a panicked glance at my bedroom door trying to calculate how long it would take for my mom to get there. I quickly threw my book under the bed and grabbed my math textbook. "Lisa?" my mom stuck her head into my room. "how much longer will you be?"
"I don't know," I replied. "I have all these left to do." she stared at my seemingly endless amount of question my teacher had assigned that day and sighed.
"You'll be awhile then." I shrugged my shoulders.
"Probably." she sighed again.
"Well try to finish up soon. we need to figure out what we're doing for dinner. There's some chicken in the freezer that we could heat up and cook. Oh, and your sister is at a friend's house tonight so it's just you, me and your dad tonight."
"Ok. I'll come out when I'm done." she sighed once more then left me to the peace and quiet of my own room. I leaned back in my chair and moaned. Why couldn't teachers give us a weekend without homework? I opened my eyes and did a double take. I was sitting in a perfect circle of grass in the middle of a small patch of wild flowers. Looking up I saw trees all around. It was like I was in a secret garden that was touched with magic. Gazing about I came in eye contact with another creature. I was not alone. Surprised and scared I scrambled backwards only to lose my balance and fall ... landing painfully on my bedroom floor.
Standing I shook my head, trying to make sense of what had just occurred. I had never had never gotten daydreams before, but this is what I get for staying up all hours if the night reading. If this continues to happen I'm going to go crazy!
At the same time it was both cool and scary. If I could go back, what would I find? Could I get hurt there and would it affect me in reality? Where was that place anyway? Was it on Earth, or a different planet, or even, a different universe? Since it had never happened before would it happen again? Would I be able to control it? What would happen if it transported me (as I now though of it) in front of others?
Thoroughly freaked out now, I quickly started my homework to distract myself from these disturbing thoughts. If "X" plus three equals seven, then "X" equals four. If ten minus "X" equals twenty, then "X" equals negative ten. Slowly but surely the problems pounded out the images from my mind until I was completely focused on my work.
Three hours, dinner, and a scoop of ice cream later I was finished my homework and left to dwell on what had happened earlier. After saying goodnight to the rest of my family and slipping under the covers, I closed my eyes and tried to picture the clearing I had been sent to.
The lush green grass with the towering trees around it. the place had been as silent as death but felt as if it could burst into life at any moment. The picture was so clear in my mind that it felt like if I reached out I could pick the wild flowers that dotted the field, and smell their sweet scents. Cautiously I opened my eyes and stretched out to touch the silky petals. Stroking the delicate flowers I noticed that I had been transported into the clearing, but that wasn't the right word for it.
Teleportation is when your body dematerialized from your original place and recreated at another. This was different though. It was like I appeared in another place without ever disappearing from my room. I could still feel the sheets of my bed, but it was faint, like a dream. Like my room was the image and the clearing was reality. Timidly I closed my eyes and strengthened the image of my room. Upon opening my eyes I saw the roof of my bedroom. I was back, and this time on my own terms.

Hi! Sorry about the quality. This is a story that I'm trying to write but I haven't yet published the first part on Wattpad yet. I thought it would be fun to post what had been the first part of my story when I first thought of it. This is nearly an exact copy of what I wrote in my diary (minus most of the spelling mistakes) when I was 10 so it's a little lacking. I used it to try to figure out how to work Wattpad. I'm most likely going to take this part down once the real first part is ready. I'm sorry it takes me so long to upload parts. I have a very hard time getting my thoughts onto paper which unfortunately means I don't write quickly. Thanks for reading this part and I'll try to upload the next part soon.
