Rachel and Jack were so excited! They had passed the first step to having a child! They had always wanted one but did not have the home life and the stable jobs that were required by the WFO (Worldwide Fertility Organization) to be candidates for the process of becoming a family. They are both from the first generation to be born from the new regulations. Completely free of all genetic abnormalities or diseases.
They sit in the small yet inviting waiting room huddled together on the one of two plastic chairs in the small room. Nervous, excited and scared at the same time they chat together quietly about their day not really listening to each other. Rachel talks about a woman that annoys her at the lab where she works and how she just will not adhere to the fragrance policy always wearing way too much perfume. Jack nods and answers with a couple of stories about the people he has to deal with in his security job, being a body guard for famous people. How the other day he had to carry his charge, a very famous actor, over his shoulder because he was too drunk to walk and was mobbed by crazy fans all the way back to the limo.
Just as they almost couldn't take the waiting any longer the doctor comes out into the waiting room. The couple stand up together and hold each other tight.
"Congratulations! Mr. and Mrs. Alpha. You have been accepted into the program. We will start tomorrow. You will put up for the night as soon as your deposit clears. We start first thing in the morning."
