6 Tamaraw nurses top the recent July 2011 Nursing Licensure Examination. Not to mention their names, the highest place was of rank 3. Of all the schools in our country, where thousands of examiners who took the exam came from, FEU did exemplified in the before mentioned exam. But how come this event be taken for granted by the school? How come the feature on the school paper did not contain much about them, when in fact they have pages for sport events? I’m not saying they should not feature sports anymore. What I’m trying to convey is that they should have done a more comprehensive and more expound article on them. They deserve a whole-page article, weren’t they? And also, that could challenge and inspire future NLE takers to top the board exam. This is just so sad. They work the hardest for 4 years, aspiring not just to be skillful, knowledgeable and competent nurses but as well as to be topnotchers. Over the past years, it is only again this year that FEU had more names landing on the top. In my outmost respect with the FEU-Advocate writers, I suggest that they write more efficiently, more on facts, especially ones meant to be proud of, than of the creative part. Let’s face it, almost all students don’t read those literary columns. I’m not being bias here, yeah I am a student under the Institute of Nursing, but I am speaking on behalf of all students. Topnotchers from different institute of our beloved alma mater should be honored and paid attention well. They had brought glory to our university so why not give them what is due to them and not waste pages for fictional things. I am not saying that should stop writing literary works, that is a talent given by God to be shared. What I want to say is that you should look on the bigger and more important things. The Advocate is meant to communicate happenings in our campus, it is meant to banner achievements of Tamaraws. Hence, let’s place Tamaraw excellence on the pedestal, and decide what to do on secondary things. Tamaraw toping the board exams happens only twice or just once a year. Why not give an outpouring writing of how proud are we of their achievement?
Note: this is not to degrade the FEU Advocate, I am just stating my point of view.
