Apparently they thought it was a good idea to go off hunting some demons with me to, as Gracie says (whom I learned often goes by Grace) "Show me the ropes". Personally, I think they are gonna get me killed. It was just me, Grace, Jack, and of course Dylan. He and I hate each other, and it takes all of Dylan's patience not to kill me. Apparently I was unconscious for 8 hours. Jeez. That can't be good. But as Amy said I overused my abilities. That never is good.

So here we stand, on top of a roof, looking at the streets of New York. Jack and Dylan apparently have a running argument about how magic is better than physical violence and vice versa. I thought that the magic was cool, but the physical thing felt amazing. But there was so many spells that you could do with magic. I don't know, but I am worried about fighting this demon. Jack carries little to no weapons, but he has tons of charms that can be used to intensify spells or cast spells that would be impossible without them. He only really uses one weapon, a 7 foot long staff that is made of some weird magic wood thing that contracts into a bracelet, nothing special just a chain bracelet. But if he taps it, says the command word, or, if necessary, he can concentrate very hard and he will be holding the staff. It is pointed at the bottom with a tip that you just can't get with an electric sharpener. The top is round and big. The staff can help concentrate most combat based spells. Any way, he held that up in the air and was muttering an incantation.

Dylan was wearing dark pants that were also covered in sheaths and weapon pockets. He wore a shirt with no sleeves. It wasn't really a shirt, just something to put on his chest and hold more weapons. He almost never used magic, just a few physical-magic things. No his magic was his skill at fighting.

Jack finished his incantation. He spoke, "Okay. So I just cast a spell. Now all the demons we see will appear in there true forms automatically. It only lasts 5 minutes so let's move." At that, he snapped his fingers and teleported three flights down to the sidewalk. Dylan jumped and did a few flips before landing on the sidewalk. Grace looked at me. She said, "You can jump if you want. I don't recommend it, but I'm sure you will live. Do you know how to teleport?" I shook my head. She had asked like a normal person would ask if I knew how to swim. "It's simple really. Your not really teleporting. You just faze through objects extremely fast. All you gotta do is snap your fingers, and then imagine moving to the place. It helps if you know the place and the places on the way. So teleporting around your own home would be easy, but trying to teleport to a place you have never been to is extremely hard." Well that explains that easily.

I snapped my fingers and nothing happened. I tried again yet still nothing happened. Then I thought about the black fire thing and opened my mind as I had then. I didn't will the power to my hands this time, I just imagined it filling every molecule in my body. Then I snapped and everything was heavily tinted purple. I imagined floating down to the sidewalk and then I was there. The purple tint went away, and I was standing next to Dylan and Jack on the sidewalk. Grace appeared behind us. "Nice job Oliver! Now let's move." Grace said and started walking. She was about 3 paces ahead of us when she stopped dead in her tracks. She stopped stopped so suddenly that I nearly knocked her over.

Luckily she was steady on her feet and I don't weigh too much. I looked at where she was staring and my my jaw dropped. There was a huge, 8 foot tall, demon standing 20 feet away. It saw us and ran. Grace sprinted after it and I followed. I have always been a fast runner but I was sprinting faster than I ever have before. I kept the black fire energy in me and let it swirl around. I was getting better at summoning it and controlling it. I was easily running as fast as Gracie, and I could feel that this wasn't my max. She ran like a dear, whipping around corners and leaping over trash cans. But I was nothing compared to Dylan. He didn't even look like he was trying, even when he leaped over 6 foot tall dumpsters like it was a puddle on the ground. But Jack was the most impressive of all. He was flying. And I don't mean like he was running really fast, I mean he was literally 8 feet of the ground leaning forward like he was on a Segway. I had to learn how to do that.
