Epilogue

We are in heaven now. Dead, but still together. Though we've left our mortal bodies behind, our souls are together, as they should be. I have reasons to believe, through my life and hers, that soul mates do exist. God makes souls in pairs. Sometimes the two souls both go into female bodies, or both go into male bodies, or one into a male and one into a female body. However, it truly is what is on the inside that matters. Because even after the physical aspect is gone, the two souls must climb to the gates of heaven together. I have seen some souls waiting by the entrance for years, waiting for their other half.

As it is, heaven is located where you would least expect it: in the center of your love. Once you die, the soul enters the heart. Not the organ that pumps blood every day, but the metaphysical version, the source of passion. The soul finds what it most desires there. That is why, after death, we find our loved ones. That is also the reason why the evil find hell. Those who seek destruction shall have to face it eternally.

So we are here, together, our presences on earth having done what they were meant to do. I shall live each day with her by my side, among those I love. Soon our children will be here, though we don't know when. Time runs differently here, but we hope that when they arrive they have done good and left behind happiness. Who would have thought that I would someday be here? I will hold my love, my soul mate, in my arms eternally. I will never forget our times together. I have come from a young man who admired a beautiful young woman from afar, knowing that we were separated by languages, to an adult with that beautiful girl as his wife, to a parent, to an old man whose wife still outshone the stars, to a spirit, who will never forget. My love, we are eternal, for true love never dies. Love is everywhere, and we are that love. We are the stars, the sun, the old, the new. We are infinite, for love is the bridge from nothing to something, and we have walked it.
