“SHUT UP NIALL!”

The boy laughed as I threw the pillow at him, hitting him in the face. He had an infectious laugh, and I couldn’t help but giggle a little as he threw the pillow back at me. It missed badly, falling in front of me on the floor. I shook my head, smirking, tucking some of my notorious Horan blonde hair behind my ear. Yes, I was a Horan. Almost nobody knew I was related to one of the boys from One Direction, since my mother was a Horan, and when she married my father, her last name was legally changed to Wardman. Though it’s not like life would be more fun with the same last name as the Irish boy from the most popular boy band in the UK. Living in America, people didn’t exactly know who One Direction were. And if they did, they didn’t care.

“Okay okay, fine. To be honest, when I heard you were visiting, I kind of let out this weird little squeal that made Louis jump because he thought he had stepped on the cat.” Niall said with a big grin. We had always been close as kids. We used to love to watch the Lion King together, and would spend hours playing little make believe games where we were wizards who saved the world. And then..we moved to America. It’s not like I didn’t like it there. I had my friends and my school was actually really fun. I just missed the rest of my family. Especially Niall. We only could talk through skype or texting..and ever since X Factor we haven’t been able to as much, due to his busy schedule. It was just so awesome to finally see him again. I grinned back at him.

“A squeal? Thats..cute.” I replied jokingly. He shrugged, letting out another laugh as his phone vibrated. Pulling it out of his jeans pocket, he stared at the screen before answering it.

“Hello? Oh hey Liam. Yea, sure. Yea I have it. Okay. See you then.”

Niall hung up his phone and slid it back into his pocket, hopping off the bed. I watched him, raising an eyebrow as he walked into the bathroom and came out holding some hair gel.

“What the fuck? Are you going to style my hair or something?” He shook his head, rolling his eyes a little.

“No. Liam is coming over to get his hair gel. I don’t know why he needs it. It’s not like he uses it. Whatever.”

My stomach gave a lurch and my heart began to race. My palms even began to get moist. If we were being honest, I would have to admit that I always had a bit of a thing for Liam. He was absolutley gorgeous and had the most amazing smile. I had never met him before, but Niall always talked so highly of him. Danielle broke up with him about 2 weeks ago. He’s been acting kind of weird ever since. It’s really weird. I hate seeing him like this. Niall texted me that last week and it had been brewing in the back of my mind ever since. Would I ever have a shot with him? Absolutely not. But a girl could dream, right?

“Oh. Okay. Well when’s he gonna be here?”

The doorbell rang. Question answered. I took a deep breath, standing up to look in the mirror as Niall jogged down the stairs to answer the door. My curly hair sat limp on my head. I hadn’t done anything with it this morning. My mascara was smudged around my blue green eyes. I quickly wiped off the smudges while staring at my outfit. Jeans, Doc Martens and a black v-neck. Could I look any worse today? I sighed, shaking my head as Niall walked into his room, followed by Liam. My stomach gave another great jump as he smiled at me. I smiled back, worried I was looking like a total idiot. Niall threw the bottle at him and he caught it ever so smoothly. I felt my cheeks burn hot red.

“Why do you even need that, mate? You dont use hair gel.” Niall questioned, flopping back on his bed. Liam shrugged.

“I don’t know. Ruth needs it for some costume party I guess. Don’t ask me.” I stood there awkwardly, not sure what to say. Clearly Niall had forgotten to introduce me. I wasn’t all that surprised. He was a little scatter brained sometimes..even if he did have the best intentions. He raised an eyebrow, shrugging then stood back up and looked at me, then jumped a little. Looks like he noticed I was alive.

“Oh, Liam! Right. This is my cousin Leah. Leah Wardman.” Liam turned to look at me again and smiled. I could’ve melted right into the floor as I looked into those beautiful brown eyes.

“Hello.” he said in his rugged, british voice. It was so crisp and sexy. I’m almost positive my cheeks were burning a bright red again. I managed to smile back without melting into the carpet.

“Hi.” Niall looked at me with a big smirk. Apparently he could tell what I was thinking..or feeling..or he was just being a little snot.

Say Liam, I have a meeting tonight and nobody else is going to be home. I don’t want Leah here to be all by herself. Do you think you could maybe show her around or something?” Niall asked, turning on his charm as he ran his fingers through his hair. I turned to look at him, shooting him a death glare. I knew exactly what he was up to.

“Meeting? We dont have a meeting.” Aha! A flaw in Niall’s little plan to set us up. He never thought anything through.

“Oh, no. This is a meeting for just me. Just some legal stuff for when I turn 18.” Fuck. He was good. And it looked like Liam was convinced. I held my breath, nervous for Liam’s answer. I also wanted to kill Niall, but I could take care of that when Liam left.

“Yea, thats no problem. I wasn’t going to do anything tonight. We’ll find something fun to do.” he said, turning to face me with another smile. I tried not to blush again, but curled up my lips slightly.

You know it’s really no big deal if you don’t want to. I can just stay in for the night.” It was Niall’s turn to glare at me, but he didn’t speak until Liam responded.

“No, it’s really fine. It sounds like it could be fun!” he said, chuckling a little. Did he geniunley want to hang out with me? Or did he just feel bad for me?

“Great! I have my appointment at 7 so anytime after that you can come get her.” Apparently I couldn’t set up my own dates for myself…even though this wasn’t a date.

“I’ll be ready by 7:30.” I told Liam, giving him a sweet smile. He nodded.

“Cool. I gotta get this hair gel to Ruth before she throws a fit, but I’ll talk to you later Niall.” he said, giving him one of those “bro-hugs” you see guys on tv do before he turned to me. “I’ll see you at 7:30.” he added before walking out of the room. My face felt hot again, and I could tell I was smiling.

Niall creeped over to my side and whispered, “You’re welcome.” I didn’t say a word. My smile turned into a grin as I turned to face myself in the mirror. I was literally glowing. Niall was standing behind me and let out a chuckle. So he could be a little scatter brained…but he did care for me. After all, he’s the reason I was going on a date with Liam fricken Payne.
