Jaehyun's POV
'Heads or tails, Jae?' Taeyong's voice called out in front of both schools. I glared at him and rolled my eyes.
'Tails, Taeyong.' I replied sternly.
'Tsk. I give you a nickname and you glare at me and don't give me one back. Typical. You'll be no fun as head boy.' Taeyong shook his head and flipped the coin.
'Heads. I won.' He smirked, knowing that he got to pick the first battle of the year.
'Congrats, Tae.' Two can play at the game, I thought.
He snorted in response and went over to Ten, Yuta, Hansol and Mark about what he would choose.
'Like we agreed, boys?' I heard Taeyong speak and the others nodded and chuckled.
He spun around quickly and spoke into the mic, 'the first tournament of the year will be basketball.'
The whole of Barnhill academy, including myself, burst out laughing.
'Taeyong, you do know, I am among the best basketball players of my age in Seoul?' I chuckled, 'you don't know what you've let yourself in for.'
'First, remember, you're calling me Tae now. Second, I know. And third, touché my boy.' And with that, Taeyong spun around on his heels and left with the team, 'I have important matters to sort out as lead boy. Goodbye Mr.Lee, Ms Denny.'
The five of them seemed remarkably calm for people that knew of my basketball status. Which is why I was mildly concerned about what they had planned. Were they going to trip up the team whilst playing? Tie people's shoelaces? Somehow alter the scores so they would win? I'd never seen them play, they never put in a basketball team. Which led me to the conclusion that they couldn't play basketball for their lives - so why did they pick it?
The Yunji students all left to get ready for their lessons and I saw the boys walk over to me, 'Earth to Jaehyun?' Johnny chuckled and waved his hand in front of my face, 'what are you so deep in thought about?'
'Ah..just thinking about how stupid Tae and the rest are for picking basketball.' I laughed.
'Tae? You're not seriously going to call him that are you, especially when he's not even around.' Doyoung scoffed.
'Oh, I didn't realise I did that.' I chuckled nervously, 'oh well, it's just a name.'
'Let's just go and get ready for our duties of the day. Being around Lee Taeyong is making you soft.' Johnny laughed slightly but he was speaking sincerely.
'Johnny's right, Taeyong shows you up in front of everyone. Let's just stay out of his way. And when we have to cross paths with him, make sure he doesn't forget it.' Doyoung chuckled.
Johnny and Doyoung walked ahead whilst I walked behind with Kun and Taeil.
'Don't worry Jae, they're just protective of our titles.' Kun smiled reassuringly.
'Yeah, they just don't want you to get hurt from all this. It is a well known fact that Taeyong is trouble.' Taeil patted my back and I nodded in agreement.
