I think it all started when I first saw her. I'd just sat myself down at my new House table at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and there she was. It was like fate. She had soft brown hair, a nice contrast to my own pale blond mess. She had brown eyes, too, and an innocent look on her face. At first glance you might just toss her away as some innocent, not-really-meant-to-be-in-Slytherin, just-add-her-to-the-pile girl. Like she was too innocent. Too plain. Too forgettable.
Something told me otherwise. Some little voice inside my head told me she was to be remembered. That she wasn't really so innocent, that she would be one hell of a person one day. I think that voice was right and wrong at the same time. Because behind her brown eyes there was something. Not love, nor joy. Not even laughter. It was life. Pure, untouched life.
To put it simply, she captivated me, absorbed my every thought, every feeling. I was always rather quiet, until her. When I first saw her I decided I would do everything in my power to get her attention. So I did everything I could think of. I pranked people, bullied people, gave other girls flowers, got into fights, got detention, joined the Quittich team.
