"I need to find another job."

I rubbed her temples as she scrolled through her bank statements.

"I feel you, James. My econ textbook was $300 and that's like more than I make in a week."

Her best friend, Ava, snapped her gum and adjusted her UCLA baseball cap.

"I have a full course load this semester, and I'm working all the shifts I can in the time I have, and I'm barely making enough to cover my living expenses."

I shut my laptop and sighed. Pulling my phone out of my black leather tote, I tuned out Ava babbling on about how she needed to start taking more spinning classes to lose more weight off her already thin frame. I really couldn't relate to Ava's problems right now. A trust fund baby from Massachusetts, Ava only worked as a waitress a few nights a week because she thinks she'll get scouted. It's not that improbable considering she could pass for Kendall Jenner's twin sister. That's LA for you, though. I, however, needed to work to pay for my own crazy high LA rent while maintaining a 3.5 GPA to keep my scholarship at UCLA.

"James? Hello, are you listening to me?"

"Huh?"

I snapped out of my haze.

"I said I know a way you can make more money," Ava snapped her fingers in front of my face. "Cassie saw a bunch of signs all around looking for extras in a music video."

"Do you know how much they pay?"

I inquired.

"She didn't say, but she texted me the address to go to for the casting call tomorrow. They're looking for hot college aged girls, so you should be fine."

"I'll do it if you do it."

I piled my tangled blonde hair into a bun at the top of my head.

"Maybe."

Ava sighed.

"Come on, Ava. Maybe some big modeling agency will see it and sign you on the spot."

I pleaded.

"Yeah, okay I'll do it."

Ava didn't need much convincing.

"Great! I need to go meet with my comm professor to discuss my paper, so I'll meet you back at the apartment later."

I stood up and picked my tote up off the ground.

Ava waved goodbye and went back to whatever she was working on on her computer.

I adjusted my bag and walked away from the outdoor cafe to get back on campus. I didn't know what to expect tomorrow, but I just really hoped that I got it.
