Love Written In The Stars

Chapter Two

Nina wakes up to her brother's music in his room. She turns over to see what time it is. It's 9:33am. She gets out of bed and walks out of her bedroom in her pajamas. She's wearing shorts and a tank-top with a pony tail in her hair. She smells something cooking. Or was it burning? Nina speed walks down the stairs to the kitchen. "Oh my god!" Nina says as she is waving her hand back and forth with smoke everywhere. "Zack!" Zack runs to the kitchen with his tablet in his hand. "What is it?" He looks up, and sees all of the smoke on the ceiling. "Did you forget something!?" Nina said, "what the hell happened?"
"Sorry! I was trying to make breakfast for us, but I guess I forgot." Zack says as he's waving a pillow at the smoke alarm.
"You guess you forgot?" Nina said annoyed. Nina turns off the stove and the smoke alarm. She was irritated with her brother, but she knew that he was just trying to do something nice.
"You just wanna go out to eat?" Nina asks Zack.
"Sure."
"Get ready."
"Okay." Zack his walking to his room.
Nina puts a pair of shorts on, and a grey short sleave and a pair of black vans. She fixes her messy pony tail. They take their moms Honda and drive to McDonald's. They both get a breakfast burger with hash browns. They get their mom the same thing. The whole car ride home, Nina couldn't stop thinking about the random guy she saw at the mall. She turned on some music to clear her mind of him, but no matter what song was on, it somehow connected to Nina and that guy at the mall.
They arrrive home and Nina lies in her bed and goes on her Apple lap top. She's on Facebook and revieves a message from her best friend. Nina opens the message.
Kaylie: Hey! I think I found that guy you bumped into yesterday at the mall.
Nina: What?
Kaylie: Yeah, see.
Kaylie sends a screen shot of his profile.
Kaylie: His name is Taylor Michael. He lives in the area, and says he goes to our high school.
Nina: Really? I never see him in the halls, or during passing period. And you're seriously stalking him?
Kaylie: Well it's a big school Nina, you can't see everybody in the halls. And so what? I felt you needed to know who he was.
Nina: Why? Because I bumped into him? 😄
Kaylie: Don't tell me you haven't been thinking about him.
Nina: Alright so what?
Kaylie: So! You have been single for too long, and I'm trying to set you up. 😄
Nina: You're not going to do anything.
Kaylie: Whatever. Just friend him.
Nina: Why should I? Because then he will just think that I'm stalking him, and obsessed.
Kaylie: Just do it.
Nina: No. It's just, weird.
Kaylie: Whatever. We will talk more about this at the park.
Nina: Oh yeah, I almost forgot.
Kaylie: Byee!!
Nina goes to his profile and looks at his picture. Yep that's him. Nina thought. She thought about sending him a friend request. But then realizes that it would be too weird. A message pops up.
Kaylie: I bet you're thinking about sending him a friend request. 😊
Nina rolls her eyes, smiles and ignores her. She left his timeline and let it be. But she still couldn't get him out of her head.

It's 2 o'clock and Nina heads to the park with her brother. They meet Kaylie at the benches of Coastal Peak Park. Nina sits down while Zack is running to the park.
"So, about that guy," Kaylie says as she's moving her eyebrows up and down.
"Oh my gosh Kaylie just leave it alone." Nina chuckles.
"I can't, he was hot, and I'm not going to let you sit around doing nothing about it." Kaylie has a big smile on her face.
"You're never going to let this go are you?"
"Nope."
Nina sighs.
"Well, I've been thinking about him a lot lately."
"Mhhm. See these are the things you need to tell your besfriend. Go on."
"And I just have this feeling that I need to see him again-
"Mhhm"
"Just one more time. So I can get a better look at him."
"What if I told you that could happen?" Kaylie said suspiciously.
"What?" Nina has a surprised face.
"Look, he's over there."
Nina sits up and looks over.
"Oh my god. How did you know he was going to be here!"
"I didn't." Kaylie smiles.
"Kaylie?" Nina gives her a look.
"What? I swear!"
They both look over at him and just kind of watch him for a while. He's wearing jeans and a white t-shirt with grey vans. He has a little girl with her, she looks about the same age as Zack.
"Who is that?" Kaylie asks.
"His sister maybe." Nina says.
Taylor's sister runs to the play ground. And Taylor sits down on the bench. He just sits there. Nina and Kaylie are still watching him. "Wow, he really is cute." Kaylie says.
"Kaylie shut up. You have a boyfriend."
"Yeah but can you deny it?"
"No haha."
Nina goes back to watching Zack at the park. "Ow!" Zack falls down from the ladder at the park and starts crying. Nina runs over to him and takes a look at his knee. Taylor walks up to see what's going on.
"Oh my god. Here, bring him over here, I've got a first-aid kit in my car."
Nina picks Zack up and carries him to the bench that Taylor was sitting on. Taylor then goes to his car to grab the kit.
"Ow! Nina it hurts!" Zack sobs.
"It's going to be okay, he's coming to get you some band-aids."
"But it hurts!"
"I know it does. But it will get better."
Taylor comes running back.
"Here." Taylor is breathing heavy.
"Thanks." Nina says as she grabs the kit.
Taylor sits down. Nina opens up the first-aid and grabs cleaning stuff and a big band-aid.
"No not that stuff! I hate that stuff!" Zack says.
"But it will help clean it."
"I don't care."
"Then it will just get infected."
"Fine!"
Nina pours some of the cleaning stuff onto his knee and dabs it up with a cuetip.
"Oww ow oww!" Zack cries.
"What's going on?" Taylor's sister walks up.
"He fell down at the park" Taylor says.
"Just sit still please!" Nina yells.
"But it hurts!"
"There, it's all cleaned up, now we just need to put the band-aid on."
"Thanks Nina!" Zack says as he's getting up.
"Are you okay to keep playing?"
"Yeah. Hey, do you wanna play with me?" Zack asks Taylor's little sister.
"Sure." She says.
They run to the playground.
"Thanks for the first aid-kit." Nina smiles.
"No problem." Taylor says.
"My name is Nina."
"My name is Taylor."
They shake hands and smile at each other.
"So how old is your sister?" Nina asks.
"She's going to be 9 next week. How old is your brother?"
"He's 9."
"What's his name?"
"Zack. Your sister's?"
"Mia."
They smile at each other. Nina looks over at Kaylie. Kaylie puts her hand up making it into a "👌" and winks at Nina. Nina rolls her eyes and blushes. Nina and Taylor just sit there for a second in awkward silence watching their little siblings.
"So what school are you going to this year?" Nina asks.
"Oh, I'm a Junior in New Port Harbor High." Taylor says.
"Really? So am I." They both smile.
"Is this going to be your first year there?" Nina asks.
"Haha no, I've been going to this school since freshman year." Taylor says.
"Really? I have never seen you before. Ever haha."
"I've never seen you either. Maybe now that we have met we will see each other." He smiles at her.
"Maybe." She smiles back.
It's about 3:30 and Zack walks up to Nina with Taylor's sister.
"Nina, I want to go home. I'm getting bored."
"Okay." Nina says.
"Hey, can we play again sometime?" Mia asks her brother and Nina.
"Sure. Why don't you invite them to your birthday party next week." Taylor says.
"Oh yeah! Zack, do you wanna go?" Mia asks.
Zack looks at his sister. Nina smiles and nods.
"Sure!" Zack says.
Nina and Taylor stand up.
"Here, give me your number so I can text you when and where." Taylor smiles and pulls out his phone and hands it to Nina.
"Smooth move." Nina says and smiles at him.
"It was nice meeting you Nina." Taylor says.
"I know it was." She winks at him.
Zack and Mia wave bye to each other. They go their separate ways and Kaylie walks up to Nina.
"So how did it go?" She says excited.
"Well, he helped me get Zack cleaned up and then we talked, and then I gave him my number." Nina explains.
"It's true love." Kaylie says.
"Shut up, you're being stupid." Nina and Kaylie laugh.
Nina and Zack arrive home. Nina goes on her phone to see if he texted yet. And he hasn't. So she goes to the DVR on her TV and watches The Vampire Diaries. After her show, she checks her phone again. He still hasn't texted. Whatever, Nina thought, I have got to get over him. Nina texts Kaylie.
Nina: I didn't tell you everything that happened.
Kaylie: At the park?
Nina: Yeah.
Kaylie: Well...?
Nina: I'm going to his little sister Mai's birthday party next week. She invited Zack. So I was just going to hang out with Taylor.
Kaylie: OMG! 😱 You have to tell me all about it afterwards. If you dont, I'm going to murder you! 😄
Nina: Alright.
Kaylie: Did he ever text you yet?
Nina: No. 😒
Kaylie: He will, don't worry. 😉
They end the conversation. Nina grabs a snack and takes a nap in her room.
Nina wakes up and checks her clock. It's 5:47. Her mom walks in.
"I'm going out to dinner with Rochelle in a few minutes. I need you to watch your brother." Her mom says.
"Okay. Where are you guys going?"
"We are going to the grill."
"Isn't that that new restaurant."
"Yeah, she wanted to try it out and asked if I wanted to go."
"Okay. Have fun."
"Will do. Love you." Her mom shuts the bedroom door.
Nina checks her phone once more. She got a text from a new number.
Taylor: 190 Pyramid Ct, Merced, CA 95341. ☺
Nina: Thanks(:
Taylor: No prob 😉
Nina: Well I'll see you then. :^)
Taylor: Kay .😜
"Hey Zack," Nina said, "you wanna watch that new episode of Adventure Time with me?"
"Heck yes!" He says.
They go to the living room downstairs and watch tv until 9 o'clock. Then they fall asleep together with Zack's head on Nina's shoulder and Nina's head on his.
