((I'M SORRY FOR THE REFERENCES I'LL TRY TO STOP AFTER THIS CHAPTER.))
Chara sat alone near the bank of the dark purple river, their dimmed soul floating around them. They muttered things to themselves as their tears slowly filled the river. The dark green and turquoise sky and dying weeping willows and vines everywhere set a depressing mood, but they didn't care. "I just want Kat here.. So I can get out."
Moments later, someone else sat by them. "Hey, Chara," their soft voice muttered. Chara turns their head and sees Asriel, hugging him immediately. "Asriel, you're actually here!" "Yeah, I just didn't expect you to be here!" Chara cries more, their face becoming more red than ever. "Asriel, I missed you so much..!" "Same here." Asriel hugs them back and smiles.
Hours after that, a tall girl with a parasol covering her face is seen across the river, at the entrance to the area. She slowly walks in her little black shoes to the ferry at the river, across from Chara and Asriel. The girl tilts her parasol forward, quickly putting on a mask before she handed the ferryman some coins.
"Thank you, Miss." "No problem, sir." She steps onto the ferry, the shade from under her parasol making her nearly invisible. As they reached the dock, she slowly steps off, appearing to have a short navy blue dress, that was slightly darker than her hair. Chara stands up and bows to her, Asriel doing the same.
"Welcome, miss.." "Welcome, madam." The girl laughs at the two. "No need to be formal." She slides her mask off barely and her crystal blue eyes and Innocent smile were able to be seen. "Kat...?!" "Chara.." "I—" They attack hug her, almost pushing her into the river.
"Chara, who's this?" "The girl i love, Asriel..!" "Oh.. Howdy, Nice to meet you!" Kat pushes Chara away and holds her hand out to Asriel as an invitation to shake it. He gently shakes her hand, smiling. "So, how'd you get here?" Kat sighs and looks down.
"I was on a mission, and as I was trying to save some people from a burning house, the house collapsed on me and the other people before I could save even one person.. I was impaled by a beam in the house, then i got eaten by a titan. I'm not sure what happened next, but now I'm here... And the void is visible from here."
The three of them look in the sky, noticing that the void was quite bigger than it was around two weeks ago. "Oh. Anyways, Asriel, what is this place?" "Oh, it's like.. H-E-Double Hockey sticks, but for monsters and some humans. But not all." "Oh.. Wow." "I've heard of this place." "Cool!" "Let's just go."
Kat nods and starts walking forward, seeing a broken down temple. "Guys, its here." Chara nods and runs ahead with Asriel, Kat slowly following behind, avoiding any puddles of mud. When she reaches the temple, she quietly talks to the queen of the place, two large doors opening for the trio.
"Thanks, Kat!" "Yeah!" "No problem.." She closes her parasol and keeps it by her side. "We just need to go up these stairs." Asriel starts running up first, kicking any creatures away that were trying to harm him. Kat takes Chara's hand and the two walk up the stairs, collecting items along the way.
Asriel keeps running and clearing the pathway, stopping when he reached a door. Kat lit candles along the way, so they could see. "What's this?" "A door, stupid." "Chara, don't be rude. The candles aren't lit and he keeps hitting his face into the door.." "Fine, Kat." She quickly gets up to Asriel, and lights the candles around the area. A large dark green door stood in front of them, almost as tall as a titan.
"Ohhhh no.." Chara steps back. "It won't hurt us. We need to answer a question." The door opens it's mouth. "Mmmmmmyes, the blue one is right." Kat mutters "He only sees us as our souls, so I'm blue, you're red, and Asri is white." Chara nods and pushes Kat forward, being careful about her heels.
The door puts a screen in front of her, with 13 blue squares, 4 red triangles, 9 yellow circles, and a single red circle. "How many circles are there?" Kat thinks to herself. "Ten." "Correct. You may pass." The door opens, and the three go through.
"What would we do without you, Kat?!" Asriel looks at her as if he were trying to see under the half broken mask she had on. "Die and go into the post afterlife." "Ah." "Thank god we have you." "Yep. I've done this before, so we're good." Kat walks with her parasol in her left hand, Asriel looking down at the sharp spike on the edge of it, along with the spikes at the ends of the parasol.
Kat nudges Chara forward as she gently stabs at any creatures trying to harm the three kids. After about halfway through the second floor, Chara finds a pot of soup. "Thank god this is here, I'm starvi—" They eat it all, suddenly coughing and choking and spitting out blood. ". . . K a t. This isn't Good." She runs over to them, handing her parasol to Asriel. "Chara..!" She holds their cold, pale face, gently stroking their soft brown hair. "You don't look okay," she mutters to them. She hands them a small chocolate bar, and they take it happily. Kat had a smile on her face as Chara hugged her, telling her "I feel alot better than before!"
"Good.. Now lets go." "Okay." Kat gets up and takes her parasol back, holding Chara's hand tight. They sigh and get red in the face, Asriel teasing them for that. As they reach the second door, two large blocks appear in front of them. "Yay. Puzzles." "It's like Papyrus set up this whole dungeon place."
Kat goes to the block on the left, muttering "A slide puzzle," under her breath. She quickly solves it, making a picture of a tree of white magnolias. She walks over to the next block, muttering "Another slide puzzle." She let's Asriel solve it, picking the weakened Chara up, bridal style. Kat lets them hold her parasol. Asriel smiles at the two and runs ahead, seeing a large set of broken stairs.
"Oh no... Guys?" "Yeah?" "Be careful. Some of these stairs are broken." "Alright." Kat slowly walks up the stairs, letting Chara tap around the stair before she steps on it. When they reach the top, Kat puts Chara down and falls from exhaustion. "Guys.. Get up!" "N-No.." "Too.. Tired.."
Asriel sighs and drags the two through the final door, where a single long staircase awaited them. Kat finally gets up and takes Chara with her up the stairs. "Let's go.." She also takes her parasol and trots up the stairs. As the trio open up the door at the top, a strong breeze fills the spaceless void between the two places. Kat steps forward and sees the bright blue skies and fluffy clouds. She drops Chara and sinks into a cloud. "Now can i rest..?" "Maybe. There's a rest stop over there." "Okay.. Okay." Kat gets up and drags Chara to a small pale temple, holding their hand tight as she lays down.
"We will just leave for the real place.. Tomorrow." Asriel lays by them and yawns. "Still more stairs to climb.."<<More crappy detail i don't feel like typing rn, so skip more staircase trotting>>
Kat falls down again and sighs. "Now we are done..?" "I guess." Asriel sits by her and pets her hair. "Your hair is really soft, Kat." "Thanks.." Chara sits on her other side and slaps Asriel's hand away. "I guess we wait here until...." "We're taken back home." "Yep."
