[[ZACK’S POV]]

“So...” I started off awkwardly, resting my head on my hands and facing her. “Got a boyfriend?” It was the first thing to come to mind, I honestly have no idea.

She stared at me quizzically, before she slowly began laughing and I furrowed my eyebrows. Did I say something funny? Is there something on my face? I raised my hand to rub my face, in case I still had some sauce, and she contorted her face so it looked squished together.

I tried to hold in my laugher as I stared at her face, my cheeks slightly puffed hoping I wont burst out laughing. “You look constipated.” I froze. Did I just tell a girl she looked constipated? I’m so dead. But before it registered how funny the situation was, we both started laughing loudly, and many heads turned around at the disturbance.

I hadn’t known the class had fallen silent until a loud cough echoed the room, and Emily’s laugh began to lower until she gave a wry smile towards the front of the class. I raised an eyebrow and looked towards her direction and my laughter stopped and both my eyebrows rose.

“I’ll be taking this class for two months; Mrs Dill is on maternity leave. No funny business will be tolerated while I am here, nor when I leave when she returns. Now.” Ms Voss, the cow, smiled at everyone. Most people cringed, her teeth were something you wouldn’t want to see. “Work.”

She placed her oversized arse into a chair and began sorting papers, her eyes peering over her spectacles, before giving a triumphant smile and started writing on the black board, the squeak gave me a unpleasant tingle down my spine and I tried to ignore it, and glanced over to Emily, who gave a huge sigh and lolled her head back, looking up towards the ceiling.

“Mrs Dill has left you an assignment.” She began slowly, her clawed fingers wrapping around a set of papers. “A re-enactment for a classic.” The cow split the papers into halves with her sausage fingers and passed them to the two front rows. “Pass them back.” She waved us off.

When I got my sheet, the first thing that caught my eye was Partner work. Emily must have read that too, because she grinned and looked up towards Sarah before she could read the rest, then she cocked her head to the side.

“It says partner work. Hey?” Charlie nudged Sarah, giving a smirk and pointing to the paper. “Wanna partner up with me?”

Sarah gave a giggle and looked away. “Yeah. Sure, whatever.” She said shortly, unable to keep the grin off her face.

Emily’s mouth twisted, and looked down at the page. “Ohh...”

I looked down to mine, and read the rest. Opposite gender partner work. This will enable us to mark your interaction, sociality, and maturity. I glanced over to her, and noticed she was looking at me expectantly. I gave her the same face and she scowled. I suppressed a smile.

I kept quiet, seeing if she was going to wait for me, or ask herself. We sat quietly, reading the rest of it. Apparently we were meant to choose an act, and basically act it out in our own modernised way, including costumes and props. Minutes passed with the cow writing mindless things, or what was on the sheet.
