Once she was an innocent child

Not wanting to believe and not being able to comprehend the evil of this world,

The one that she lived in

Then one day that all changed

The day that life decided to start killing her inside, ever so slowly

All of the friends she had started drifting away from her,

One of them moving away

She was too afraid to try and make new ones,

So alone she sat in a corner someplace

Then even her mother would start leaving her

She would sit alone at home with only her little brothers for hours

It started out only being once in a while

Then slowly turned to almost every day

Even when her mother was home she was never around

Always locked in another room someplace in the house

Then she would come out and sleep or not talk to that small girl

There was always something more important

The girl almost never went to school

Having to take care of her siblings and mother instead

She would sit up at night thinking

Her thoughts would make her cry and silently scream

She eventually found some comfort in books

They took her to a faraway land

One where she could forget evil and ignore her depression

Her mother started taking that comfort away from her,

Telling her she was being selfish for reading them

She found comfort in something else

One day cutting herself accidentally with a knife while making dinner

Although the girl despised pain with a passion,

She enjoyed that pain

It was physical instead of mental

She started being more clumsy than usual

Scraping her hands and knees

Sometimes cutting her skin with blades

Burning herself with hot pans

Then she moved to a new town,

Not too far from the one she'd lived in before

Her mother now took her to the places she went

The girl and her brothers would wait patiently

As their mother went into a room with her friends, not coming out for hours

The girl always kept a fake smile on plaster face

Even though she was depressed
