Before He Came

When I was born I was a full grown man, so obviously I wasn't human. At my birth there were two people there to greet me. One was my creator, they called him Pitch. He was the son of Hades and Persephone, he was the god and creator of dark souled creatures and nightmares. I was his most prized creation at the time. The girl next to him was his friend Mirage, the daughter of Nyx and Hephaestus, however she was born too human to be considered a minor god so she was given to a human. And raised as such, but somehow she met him and they befriended each other.

I looked around me, I was in a dark bedroom lying in velvet sheets, my throat was dry. Licking my lips I sat up when the man came to sit next to me. I scooted back away from him when a sound came from my throat, that sound was later identified as growling, for some reason I had a bad feeling about the two people that were there with me, I didn't like them.

"Hello, my son," he said with an evil smile, " I am Pitch, your creator. I will teach you everything I know, and you will be in the running to be my heir to the role of the boogeyman. But you have to follow and obey as I command exactly or the punishment will be great. Come we have to get started, you must be hungry." He peered into my eyes with black pupils that showed no life behind them. His irises were grey and reflected the warm and yet cold light that came in through the open door. It was the only opening in this room, it had no windows, only a bed and a chest that sat underneath it. Well, it wasn't a real door, it had bars and a lock on it, though.

He helped me out of bed and stood me up when he raised his hand to introduce Mirage. "This is Mirage," he began, "she is a friend of mine, she will also help train you and will teach you."

"Hello, Darkiplier" she said as she tilted her head with a kind and honest smile. She was wearing fabric that they later called human clothing, unlike Pitch's black uniform, her clothes had different colors on it.

Ug, I hate that smile, what is a Darkiplier? What is she, why do I have a craving to see her cower and bleed? I thought to myself, as I frowned at her and hissed. I turned my attention to what I was wearing, to me it was a mix of what they both wore, my garments were black, but they were the same clothes that Mirage wore.

"Come now," Pitch said, "you must be parched." He led us out of the room and out into a bigger room that had no roof on it. I looked around, it was huge and was the height of my room and three more. The first level was a wall of bars like the ones that were on mine, creatures of all different looks and sizes were in them, some yelling and screaming, others sleeping or occupying themselves. The second part had stairs that led to the third part that had rows of chairs. The fourth level was filled with cages, some holding animal like creatures, others were empty.

The sky, was black with creamy stars dotted across it, and a blue full moon that seemed so close yet I could not touch it no matter how hard I reached out.

"Ah," Pitch exclaimed, "you are drawn to the moon, that is a good sign. Mirage, I have to leave now, could you take care of him until I get back?"

"Yes Pitch, don't worry, you know me." She replied as she hugged him with a sad smile on her face.

"I do," He smiled, "now, good day my dear friend. Good day, Darkiplier, treat her well." With that he transformed into a bat and flew away.

"This is an arena," Mirage said looking at me, "this is where you will sleep until we finish the housing mansion. This place is where I will train you, and where I will teach you, but we will not be alone, the others will join us." She walked around holding her hands out, she twirled around and sighed.

"What are you doing?" I asked, touching my mouth. I played with my face accidentally cutting my finger on one of my teeth. I stared at the dark liquid that came out of it.

"Don't worry Darkiplier," she said putting my hands to my side as she pulled out a paper from her pocket, "it was an accident, see this is blood, it is what keeps you alive." Ripping the paper in half she pulled out a smaller piece that she called a band-aid. And she gently wrapped it around my finger, and placed my hand back down to my side.

"I see you are learning really fast," she continued, "of course that is how he made you to be, a fast learner. But that thing I was doing is called twirling, I do it to relieve myself, would you like to try?"

I shook my head, "it looks," I paused, I didn't know what to call it, "not right. I dont like it, as a matter of fact I might punch you if you do it again."

She laughed at me, "what is that sound that comes from you?," I said pulling back.

"Come," she said grabbing my hand as she led me out of the arena, "I have a lot of work cut out for me with you."

We left the arena and walked through a forest that left me feeling that I was where I was meant to be. "This is a forest," she began as she stopped at the edge of it, "not all forests look the same, but they all have trees and creatures that live inside it and they provide food. That grey stuff inside it is called a fog, they are clouds that are close to the ground."

"I don't like you," I said looking at her, as she stared into the forest, I pulled my hand out of her's.

Turning to me she gave me that same smile from earlier, "but you do not know me, it is however, how we are all made. To not like things new to us, no matter what they are. But I do understand that me holding your hand may not be a good idea, so I will not do that anymore. Come on, dinner is ready."
