"Kellin? Where are you?" Vic called out, walking in the door.

The last time he came home and I was on the couch, I got beat so I made sure to stay upstairs in my room all day. His tone of voice seemed calm, but that didn't mean anything.

"In here." I yelled from my room.

"Well come out, you idiot." He said with a laugh, trying not to get irritated.

I opened the door and ran down the stairs immediately.

"Wow, someone's excited to see me." He stated, looking me up and down.

Oh god. He was going to say something about my body.

"U-uh, yeah. I've been waiting for you to come home all day." I lied with the best smile I could muster up.

"Awe." He laughed. "Come here."

I nervously stepped toward him and he pulled me closer, slightly roughly. Just not as rough as usual.

"Are you nervous to be around me, Kell?" He asked.

Kell? What?

"Y-yes." I told him truthfully.

"Why?" He questioned sternly.

"I- because you just, uh-" I couldn't manage to get my words out.

"Fucking say it, Kellin."  He smiled, almost evilly. He was trying to contain his anger.

"I'm always afraid that you're gonna hit me or yell at me. I'm always scared that I'll mess something up and you'll get upset." I told him. I wanted to look away so badly, but holding his gaze was worth not being hit.

"Hm. Okay." He said, still holding me tightly. "Are you hungry?"

"Oh god, yes." I practically moaned. Just the thought of food made my heart beat faster. I hadn't eaten in a week and a half.

"Alright. Put on some shoes and we can hit a drive-thru." He said.

I quickly found my TOMS, excited to be eating. I couldn't wait.

"I'm ready." I told him, nervously.

"Okay." He replied. He took my hand gently and we walked out the door.

"Oh no. Vic, wait." I thought out loud.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"I haven't covered myself up today." I admitted. He'd probably be mad that I didn't cover up the bruises and cuts.

He looked at the bruises with a dead expression. He thought it was normal.

"Uh, it's fine. We're just going through a drive-thru anyway." He said, making me relax.

"O-okay." I said, getting into the car. "Why haven't you hit me today?" I asked nervously.

"You haven't frustrated me yet. Not enough at least." He said.

"But you hit me without reason all the time..." I trailer off.

"Are you trying to get beat? I didn't know you actually liked it. Maybe next time I'll do something rougher." He suggested. I could tell he was getting mad.

I better shut up. I thought.

"No, no. I don't like it, I promise. I hate it. I don't like when you hurt me." I admitted.

"Good. You deserve the pain anyway." He replied.

That wasn't true. I didn't deserve it.
