Part Six.
I closed the door quietly. Something inside me was telling me something. I couldn't figure it out, and it was killing me, so I let it go wild.
A thought wandered into me. It was about a boy, a boy with bright teeth, brown eyes and a black fringe. I didn't really know much about him, except that he was quiet and always seemed sleepy. Poor guy, I was way too pre-occupied to think what he was trying to impress me, now that I think about it. He kept staring at me. He looked anxious and nervous for most of the night, and on that moment on the doorstep, he was completely hushed. Nick wasn't bad, he seemed sweet, and kind of attracted, I thought. I'll give him another chance.
I opened the front door again. In a black suit was a boy with dark hair and his hands in his pockets. He was looking morosely at the night sky and on his way to his house.
'Nick.'
He swivelled and faced me. He smiled the smile that I would always miss.
Slowly, he walked over to me.
'I'm sorry about tonight. I was being a tool.' I said.
He shook his head and looked directly at me. 'Ange, don't worry about it.'
'My parents are at some family camp with my sister. Do you wanna come in?'
He considered it for a moment. It was 10.15.
'Alright, I'll stay.'
I led him into my house. It was silent but for our footsteps.
'Do you want something to drink?'
'Nah, I'm fine thanks.'
I took off my bow and put it in my room. He followed me.
'Whoa! You read a lot.' Looking at my book collection.
'Yeah, it's one of my favourite things to do.'
I looked at myself in the mirror, and rubbed the smudged eye make up under my brow. I noticed he was looking at a photo of me and Reuben.
'You two are really close.'
'We're really good friends.'
'Just friends?'
'Yeah.'
I faced him and took the photo out of his hands. I looked directly in his eyes. He looked back.
'Just friends.' I said.
He stepped closer, slowly. He looked directly at me. His eyes were piercing me. I looked at the corner of my bed.
It was so cheesy, but it felt so right.
He turned, but still looked straight into my eyes. I worked my way up. His lips. His nose. His eyes. Wide and astonishing.
I knew what was coming, and I let the feeling take me. I let it take me. I did not hesitate.
We leaned in closer, close enough to take a whiff of each other's scent, closed out eyes, and let the atmosphere do its job.
This had happened before. In the same room. In the same time of day, but this time, I understood. I did not struggle comprehend what was happening. This time was better.
Our lips touched, his were soft. We moved in and our lips moved slowly into one another's. Like a magnet, we moved closer, intensifying the feeling. We found our rhythm. I lifted my hand and onto his neck, somewhere where I could hold him. His arms pulled me in closer and I felt warm. Secure.
I led him to my bed, and we lay down, kissing.
When I finally had the chance to look up at my clock, it was too late. I unwrapped myself from his arms and looked at the time on my phone. 1.08. He opened his eyes and looked at his watch. He groaned and sat up, putting his jacket on.
'Don't worry,' he said. 'My parents don't care.'
I led him to the front door and kissed him one more time, long and hard.
'Call me, please.'
He nodded, and kissed me on the forehead, before he stepped outside, where his pale skin glowed.
'I'll see you Ange. Thank you.' He smiled.
I watched him until he paused at a corner and looked back. I smiled and he did too.

Reuben came over to my house today, and greeted us happy ten months.
'Thanks Reuben.' Nick said, kissing my cheek.
I smiled. Everyday in my room, I saw Nick, Reuben, Kristy and I taped onto a wall smiling and laughing as if we had never smiled before. There were birthday cards and presents from dear friends and family, from a week ago, wishing me a happy seventeenth birthday.
Everything was exquisite. I never found that I had laughed so much, smiled so much, or jumped so much ever since I had met these companions of mine. Love and Kinship.
I was happy.
