Here I am now, living a life without any sorrow.
If I were to choose which is the true enemy of the country, I would say both America and Japan. They did harsh things to my country and to my family. I could never forgive them for that. Why not side with anyone? First, they didn't grant our independence immediately. Second, they were mean to the Filipinos. One proof was the abuse of women. And lastly, justice never prevailed during this time. I lost everything because of that but looking back, I'm glad I followed my mother's orders and after all, I am a survivor and a witness to this tragic event.
