Okay, as I said, 'In the Eyes of a Soldier's Daughter' is purely fiction. Yes, it is based on Philippine history specifically the Japanese occupation. As I promised, I would tell you guys which events from the story really happened during this time.
World War II

Social change during the Japanese occupation
The abuse of Women
Japanese soldiers abuse Filipino women for their relaxation and enjoyment
Comfort Women
Filipino women who were forced into prosecution with the Japanese soldiers
Not granting of immediate independence by both America and Japan
Both countries never noticed that the Philippines had independence before colonizing the country
America and Japan being mean to the Filipinos
They colonized the country in such a way that the outcomes would benefit them, not the Philippines
Justice was never prevailed
The Filipinos were not considered equal with the colonizers
Other than the events that I mentioned in the list, they are fiction.
