Chapter 22 - Skinny Love

[4 Days Till Battle]

[Lucy's Apartment]

Lucy was sitting on her couch, legs up on an armrest. She had a large blanket draped across her body as she stared up at the ceiling. The nightmare had really shaken her. Now she was even more worried about the fight. Natsu was standing above her, trying to cheer her up. He wanted to do to the guild, but with Lucy. And she hasn't said a word since earlier that morning. He had been trying to make her smile for five minutes, but was rewarded with no visible response.

"Luce, you can't be like this forever."

"I won't be like this forever. Maybe just a few more hours or days. Possibly longer."

"What usually makes you happy, because it clearly isn't my beautiful face."

"Music. There's a black record, titled Wiped Out." She replied, not looking away from the white ceiling. Natsu stood and quickly went into her room. He pulled out a large box filled with records, mostly used ones she had gotten at thrift stores and music shops. He pulled out a black record with a black cover, titled The Neighbourhood Wiped Out! He set the vinyl on the player then the needle on top. The record started to play, but no noise was coming out.

"Luce, something's wrong!"

"The first song is titled A Moment of Silence, it's basically thirty seconds of silence." She was right, after thirty seconds, a song began to play. He sat on the floor next to her and they both just listened to the music. It wasn't stuff he normally listened to, but he put up with it. Occasionally, Lucy would quietly sing along to the songs. The song Daddy Issues seemed to stick out to her, because it was full on shouting. It was almost as if she was trying to get her dad to hear her.

When the song ended, another started. It was a slower song. Then another song, and another, and another until the record stopped. Lucy stood and walked over to the record player. She pulled out a translucent record set it on the player. The record was titled fire within by Birdy. The first song was Skinny Love. Lucy walked into the living and offered her hand, standing in front of Natsu.

"Really?"

"Yeah, why not?" Lucy asked. Natsu couldn't think of a reason as to why, so he stood and rested his hands on her waist. Lucy's arms went around his neck.  The song wasn't as romantic as the Elvis Presley from days earlier. But it worked.
