I eventually get home, it takes a while, but here I am.
I know that Dr. Paul called home to my mom, why wouldn't he? Plus, when he told me to leave because of all his patients, there wasn't a single person in his office.
I've been dreading talking to mom all day, and seeing Ryan. What if Ryan knows about this too? What am I supposed to do? My life could be over.
"Hey honey! How was your day?" My mom says cheerily when I walk through the door. She's always this cheery, if she wasn't I would be suspicious.
"It was alright, a little long, but alright." I state, blankly. My mom hates when I don't show emotions.
"Mikey, what happened?" She comes up to me, and kisses me on the head. It's gotten a little awkward when she does this nowadays. Ever since I hit puberty, I've shot up in height. I used to be 5'8" (not short at all) but am now nearing 6'4". I don't know exactly when it happened but, I'm happy.
"Nothing mom." I say a little exasperated. I get like this when I'm keeping a secret and not getting my way."You better watch your tone with me, mister." She says firmly. I know that my mom doesn't like to be mad, or stay mad for long. She especially doesn't like being mad when she's trying so hard to be nice and supportive.
"I know, I'm sorry mom. Just long day." I give a weak smile at the end, as my apology.
I think that I'm almost out of the clear when,.
"So, Dr. Paul phoned today, to say that you stopped in earlier." She stops me in my tracks, at my lame attempt to run up the stairs and hideaway forever.
"Oh, yeah just felt off this morning." I lie, hoping he didn't say too much.
"Oh, yeah? Did you? Was the voice throwing you off?" Dammit.
"Mom, I'm sorry. I didn't want to stress you out, I just-"
"Well, I would've stressed about you more if I didn't know and you kept acting strange." She states, holding her ground, and also cutting me off."Mom, please trust me. You have to believe me when I say to you that I'm doing much better now." I say, hopefully much more reassuring than I feel.
"Well, if you say so..." She says reluctantly giving up. "But, you're not off the hook yet young man." She says as I start to turn to leave. "Not before giving your mom a hug." She smiles.
I smile back, because what can I say, I love my mom. Whether that's classified as cool or not cool.
After giving her a hug, she seems pretty satisfied as I bolt up the stairs at a rapid pace.
Once I'm in my room, I bolt and lock my door (the bolt being a signature touch after Ryan's 'broken in' to my room countless times).Ah, we have the whole place to ourselves.
Damn. Could've sworn I'd gotten rid of it.Nah, I'm still here! Aren't you happy to hear my lovely voice?!
Recently, it's the only thing I've been able to hear, and never get out of my head.
Well that was certainly rude to say to your new room mate.
I can't see the voice, but can most certainly guarantee that it's winking, sarcastically. It's going to be one hell of a ride on the rollercoaster of life if I don't do something to end this, and soon.
