A peasant girl with long golden blonde hair and sky blue eyes. Her name was Skye. She walked along the dusty road of Arabia. A movement in the sky attracted her attention. It flew up towards one of the blocky buildings. Skye's bubble of curiosity popped, and she climbed the stairs to the roof. She suddenly became face to face with a massive purple dragon. The last thing she knew, was how she was slowly moving away from the giant creature. She felt pain pierce through her as her body connected with the building. Her eyes opened to a girl with short black hair, and violet eyes. She had a large black witch hat and a white cat with amber eyes. It crawled across her arm and jumped into the blue eyed girl's lap. Skye smiled she gently stroked the kitten's soft fur. The cat rubbed itself against Skye's now torn blouse and jumped into the arms of the politely waiting girl.
"Hi!" The other girl started "I am Violet! I am a witch!" Skye thought about it. She heard stories of witches from another place called America. They hid from humans and whenever they were caught, they were burned at the stake. There was no stake in the part of Arabia she was from.
"Are you running away from the humans?" Skye peered at the young witch's violet eyes.
"Why should I? Every year one hundred chosen ones come to the palace of magic! Hey, follow me!" She joyfully said. She grabbed Skye's wrist and started to pull her towards the crystal like palace of magic. "W-where are you taking me?" She stuttered. Silence was her reply. She entered the rich gates of magic. She saw 4 pedestals. Each had carvings on the tops of them. One was a carving of a bird, another of a fox, of a wolf, and a cat. There was another pedestal that was empty. Violet motioned her to sit down. Nothing happened. She felt a longing power pulling her towards a different direction. Violet's eyes widened and she muttered something under her breath. Skye let the mysterious power lead her towards a long corridor. At the end of it, were two other pedestals.
One of them was glowing an eerie blue light. She stretched her arm out to touch it. The moment her hand touched the cold crystal, a blinding light appeared out of nowhere. When it faded away, she saw that the pedestal stopped glowing. On it was a glowing axe and shield. Skye picked the weapon up. The metal part had a carving on it, the same carving that was on the pedestal: a bear. She looked down.
Her ripped leather clothing was replaced with a sky blue shirt and black leggings. She had a pendant that magically appeared on her chest, of that same bear carving. She turned her head at the smell of cat. Violet was tip toeing towards her.
"H-how did you know I was coming?" She asked nervously
"I smelled you." Sky asked surprised
"Unbelievable." Violet shivered, her eyes widening. She stepped back.
"What is it?" Skye asked. She felt somebody's cold breath on her. She flipped her head around. Behind her was a massive brown bear. Skye was mind blown. Did she summon the great beast? Or did a bear just wander into the palace? Will she die? Or will she be able to make a run for it? Questions enveloped her. The bear jumped in all fours and nuzzled against her leg. Violet gasped.
"What happened?" Skye suddenly felt sick to the stomach.
" Th-the hidden powers!" Violet breathed
The hidden powers were never shown. They were mentioned in legends and were never thought a reality. They were hidden away by the government because they were too powerful, and could destroy a powerful enemy easily. Now the massive creature thought to be forgotten was standing right there, in front of her.
She heard footsteps approaching. She jumped out of the way, into a large, well hidden niche in the sparkling wall. A peasant girl with very dark brown hair slowly approached the other glowing pedestal, with a carving reminding her of a large cat with a flowy mane. The pedestal started to glow, and a large golden lion appeared in front of the girl, along with a bow and a quiver full of beautifully carved arrows. The girl's low quality leather rags switched into golden and white clothing that only royalty should own. The girl clearly felt like she had before.
The bear, was looking at her with eyes of curiosity, in a niche beside her gave a low throaty growl. The girl jumped and her eyes widened when she saw the large bear coming out of the wall. The lion reacted quickly. It jumped in front of the bear with a defencive growl. The lion had speed on it's side, while the bear had strength. Skye was worried that they would start fighting, they did, but not the way anybody would have imagined:play fighting. They cuffed each other and rolled around happily. The other girl shyly brushed her thick bangs away from her face, revealing beautiful deep brown eyes.
"My name is Amani. It means wishes in Arabic." the girl said
"I am Skye. It, well, means sky." Skye's voice quivered.
The girls just stood there in an awkward silence, broken only by the playful noise of the animals rolling around on the cold floor. The lion stood up and brushed itself against Amani. The bear did the same. When his silky brown fur touched her cold skin, she felt a warm feeling spread across her body. She named the bear Kitchi.
